Headquartered in Halifax, Maritime Travel has more than 90 travel agencies across the country, and employs 400 travel agents. Founded in 1949, Maritime Travel is now the largest independently owned travel agency in Canada. The company was recently named a Platinum Club winner of Canada’s Best Managed Companies. Prior to that, it had been named one of Canada’s Best Managed companies every year since 1998. Maritime Travel specializes in both leisure and business travel. Negative experience: I booked my tickets back on 2022 with Gail Ripley an extremely outstanding service, absolutey amazing! Credits to her!! I was hoping to have the same outcome on May 18, 2024 but unfortunately not, I met with Susan Beare and she was awful, extremely dissapointed. It was evident that she clearly did not want me at the office for my travel needs, I was schoked by the service and she was the only one at Halifax Shopping Mall office around noon after lunch. I would never go back ever after, I came back home and booked my flight tickets by myself, I was travelling to Europe and back for business, I hope these reviews are taken into account atleast to a certain extent. Things need to be addressed I would put a word to my friends, family and all my circle to stay out of this place. DISGRACEFUL!!

Positive experience: Great if you need expertise in booking a cruise or all-inclusive beach vacation, but it's not really where I would go to just book flights. I think you'd get better deals online. For people uncomfortable with navigating online travel bookings, this is your place to go.
Fantastic experience: After failing to get a flight online, they found me a way in a pinch- mid peak season,l no less - and pulled a rabbit out of a hat. So grateful for these wizards. I swear there's a magic wand there somewhere in the office.
Negative experience: A week ago I asked a rep. For a trip to Porto and Madeira and she never got back to me..not very professional.
We are so sorry to hear of your disappointment. It is certainly a busy time of year for us and with snow storms, holidays and illnesses it can sometimes take a little longer than normal to research travel options. If you did not already reach out to the branch, we would invite you to contact the branch manager who can assist you.
Negative experience: Definitely do not recommend going to Susan, at Maritime Travel in the Hfx Shopping Center. Did not disclose very important information to us, regarding leaving the country we were visiting. Even with a checklist on what we wanted for our first trip, still managed to disappoint.

Negative experience: Couldn't get appointment
The Halifax Shopping Centre location does have difficulties in making appointments with the volume of walk in clientele they receive. We do hope you were able to see another available agent at that location, give us a call, or were able to visit 1 of our other locations throughout the city.

Fantastic experience: We received wonderful timely service and recommend Maritime Travel.
Negative experience: A group of 40 of us and so many booking errors, unreachable most of the time... we got stranded on our way home with cancelled AC flights and were told because our booking was through maritime travel they would manage all communication and details. Five days later, they have not responded to emails or calls. In 2023, it is much more simple and efficient to do all of these bookings yourself online. Save yourself the trouble!!
Hi Anna, we are sorry that you experienced issues on your return. While we have no control over airline cancellations/disruptions, we do provide a 24/7 Afterhours service to assist our customers. We have witnessed many delays with group reservations this past year. Most of the tour operators are struggling to keep up with demand and unfortunately, we are at their mercy as group reservations can only be done through the groups department and not online. We are hopeful that most suppliers will see improvements next year as new employees are trained, and staffing levels improve.
Negative experience: We had to call the travel agent who is also the Manager at the Halifax Shopping Centre. Worst experience ever. I was trying to get something clarified. There were two different agents at West Jet that said it was booked incorrectly and advised me to contact our travel agent at Maritime Travel. My hope was that the travel agent could check into this for me. Instead, she was insisting she was right and she was argumentative. My husband and I have used this travel agency many times to book vacation packages but after today, no way would I use this agent or company. We are still left without a clear answer to our question.
We are so sorry to hear of the confusion with your booking. We do find that from time to time airline reservation agents do not see the full details of a travel agency booking. Fantastic experience: The service was great. The lady that helped me was very nice and helpful. She took her time so I could understand everything she was telling me. which was so nice. so my experience was excellent
Negative experience: If you want to go to maritime travel. Dont deal with susan as she is not trained fully and I made a flight ticket but she put wrong name even after i gave all the information to her. She doesn’t care and not accepting mistakes. And when you walk in to the store she says who are you
Thank you Aman for bringing your issue to the managers attention. It is at times difficult to know what the airlines will accept in the name field in some unique situations. We were pleased to be able to figure it out, offer a solution, and I see the file is being managed accordingly.
Negative experience: Went on a Saturday only one person was working and she was not helpful and made me feel that she was doing me a favour looking up packages for me definitely poor service and I went and booked elsewhere just because of the poor service.

Negative experience: NOT RECOMMENDED THIS AGENCY!!!We are a 8 member family. We booked our trip 8 months before hand we have small kids we were separated on the plane and our rooms. Our kids were on the other side in a different building . We have small children which we had to keep awake till late to try and fix the issue. And one of the rooms we got one bed when we were promised two (4 people).We will make sure to let them know and complain about this horrible situation soon as we come back.

Fantastic experience: I recommend this resort to everyone I know who enjoys travels and or is thinking of traveling. Kaylee and Rhonda are so helpful and knowledgeable and will keep in mind all your wants and needs when finding you the perfect place to travel to and flights keeping in your budget!!! Go see them and have them set you up with a great vacation. I could praise these two all day for all their hard work.
Fantastic experience: Knowledge of travel and competitive pricing
Positive experience: A travel agency offering a variety of conducted foreign tours including cruise ships. There are special tours for Senior citizens, honeymooning couples etc. There are offers such as special discounts, unlimited drinks etc. Even though they have a website, it's better to pay a personal visit and get it in writing about any special offers applicable to your selection of tours. Better find out the likely prevailing weather of the places proposed during scheduled visit.
