Halifax Titanic Historical Tours

Fantastic experience: This was an absolutely fantastic tour of Halifax and everything about it. Our guide Paul was so passionate and enthusiastic about Halifax and its history. Our tour lasted almost 7 hours and we were on a cruise ship and in Halifax for the day. He picked us right up at the port, had a sign with our names on it and there were 4 others with us in a nice van. A great small group of 6 people. We toured around the whole city, got to walk through the Public Gardens, stopped at the Citadel and saw the cannon fire at noon and the changing of the guard, learned so much about the explosion that killed many in Halifax and also learned things I did not know about the Titanic. We went to 2 different Titanic cemetaries and passed by even more. We stopped in a charming fishing village and had lunch at a local and delicious seafood restaurant. We could not have asked for a better day with a more enthusiastic host. He provided waters for us the entire day and also had a TV screen in the car to show us pictures and videos about all of the great stories he told us throughout the day. An absolutely fantastic tour that is a must do when visiting Halifax!

Fantastic experience: Paul gave us a wonderful history tour of Halifax. Enjoyable and fact filled; we went back the next day to check out in detail various sites that Paul had pointed out. A great overview for a first time visit to Halifax!

Fantastic experience: Paul was an amazing guide and provided so much info about the area and knew right where to take us and when. We arrived on a cruise but didn't want to do the typical cruise large group tour so we arranged a tour with Paul. He was so easy to work with in getting it setup and he did such a good job of taking great care of us while we were on the tour. Pictures and videos that he shows you while on the tour is so informative and is so much nicer than just hearing someone talk about the area and its history. We would highly recommend this tour if you are in the area! You will not regret it and if you are on a cruise this is so much better than the large group tour! Thank you Paul for a great day.

Fantastic experience: We just returned from a vacation in Halifax, Nova Scotia. We went on many tours but found that the Tour with Paul McNeil was absolutely the best. Fantastic experience: Paul did an excellent job in telling us the history of Halifax we never knew about! I would recommend Paul as a tour guide if you want to hear it all from someone with the passion for the history of Halifax. He got us to all the right places at the perfect times and had the perfect local seafood stop for lunch. He has knowledge of and the respect for the history. Fantastic experience: This is an absolutely awesome and unique tour. Paul, tour operator and guide, provides video and narration to accompany the visits to each site. I have toured In many countries, and Halifax Titanic historical tours is at the very top of my list of great tours. Paul has a deep knowledge of everything Halifax: Titanic, Halifax explosion of 1917, the Citadel with the noon gun and changing of the guard,. and so much more. I most highly recommend this tour.

Fantastic experience: Paul was very passionate about his city history & it showed with detail & enthusiasm in our tour. We also enjoyed his recommendation for lunch at a great seafood restaurant for meaty lobster rolls! Punctual to the cannons at the Citadel & the carillon bells at the Memorial to the 1917 Halifax explosion. He does Halifax proud. Comfortable vehicle, mini educational movies on historic events, thorough!

Fantastic experience: Paul's Halifax Titanic Historical tour was fantastic! His knowledge and enthusiasm were contagious. The day flew by as he expertly guided us through Halifax's rich history. We left with a deep appreciation for the city and its role in the Titanic story. The lunch stop was a perfect break. We loved the small group approach and the van was very comfortable. The video screen adds a ton to Paul's explanations. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: The tour was a full 6 hours and took us around the famous landmarks of Halifax plus many hidden gems and around the bay to Dartmouth and Fisherman's Cove. Paul is an extraordinarily knowledgeable guide and answered all our questions. The lunch stop was excellent and he was incredibly helpful in showing us the best places to take photographs from. The van was comfortable and cool, which was welcome on a bakingly hot day. Would highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: I highly recommend Paul if you are looking to spend a day in Halifax. It’s hard to believe how many different sights we saw, and Paul’s knowledgeable commentary kept our attention, even after several hours of touring. Fantastic experience: When I say this is a wonderful tour, I mean it! It is by far the best tour I’ve ever been on. Well worth the $. Paul was very knowledgeable with all of the history around Halifax. He has a very nice, clean van with AC. There is also a tv he uses to display photos and videos as he is presenting the tour. He uses a microphone so everyone can hear in the van. We spent hours touring Halifax and enjoyed every minute with Paul. We saw beautiful gardens, explored an old fishing village which is a hidden gem. We got to see changing of the guards at a fort and also got to see them shoot the cannon! He took us to see the Titanic graves. He also brought us to the Halifax Explosion memorial and sites related to the event. He explained the event to us with the upmost respect to the victims. He is passionate about his work. He puts his all into these tours. I highly recommend this tour.

Fantastic experience: My husband and I had booked the Halifax Historial Tour on one day and Annapolis Valley Tour on another. We learned so much about Halifax and interesting details about Halifax. Paul is a wealth of information, such as the Halifax Explosion and Halifax's role in the Titanic disaster. For the Annapolis Tour, Paul know the perfect places to see. Paul takes a real interest in his guests and is warm and personable. Well worth the money!

Fantastic experience: My sister and I made our first trip to Halifax as seniors. We contacted Paul and had an excellent day with him as he toured us in his luxurious Lincoln through the town recounting the history and events of the city. He was super accommodating with my sister who needs a walker and graciously drove us up to many sites where she could view without having to get in/out of the car. The added bonus was him having a dash-mounted computer to give us an added experience and more photos and videos of the tragic events. He was well informed, answered our questions, pre-ordered lunch so there was no waiting, and gave us a very good experience for the day! Thank you Paul!

Fantastic experience: I took three tours with Paul: through downtown Halifax, Annapolis Valley and Lunenberg. Paul made all three tours enjoyable. His amazing wealth of knowledge and attention to detail made for an enjoyable experience. He knew the best places for good eats and great pictures, and his recommendations were perfect! Fantastic experience: We took all 3 of Paul's tours this past week. He is very knowledgeable, very well dressed, very professional. First class service. Presents history in multimedia format. Our favorite tour was the Halifax city tour. Our second favorite was the Peggy's Cove/Lunenburg tour. He allowed us to fully customize our Annapolis Valley Tour, so we can't comment on his standard tour of that area. But overall Paul is fantastic. Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: Paul was very friendly and provided a tour packed with information. He made sure we were on time to view the daily highlights of the city. He was well prepared with historical videos and personal commentary. He even had back up plans for rainy days. Fortunately, our tour was rain free so we were able to step out and view everything in the sun. He provided a few restaurant recommendations after we inquired and recommended a few museums to visit. We now feel reasonably oriented in Halifax and Dartmouth and are looking forward to the next 2 weeks of our vacation. Thank you, Paul, for turning back to return the backpack I forgot in your vehicle, then returning again the next day to return the cushion I forgot inside! My jet lagged brain was not running on all cylinders yet.

Fantastic experience: This was the best tour I have ever been on. Paul's deep knowledge and passion for the area is very impressive. We took our teenage son on the tour, and were initially wondering if a day long tour might be too long. In fact, it was the opposite! Paul's ability to make history come alive through the various site visits and commentary was truly amazing. We all learned so much. Fantastic experience: Paul is what every tour guide should be: well dressed, well informed, very knowledgeable and he knew what the tourist want. You go the "extra mile" with the finer details like your video clips and photos. You educate us about the history and your passion shines through in your description of Nova Scotia. We did 3 tours (17th June to 19th June 2023) with Paul and we were so impressed with his professionalism, we highly recommend these tours to anyone wanting to see and experience what Halifax and areas have to offer.

Fantastic experience: I had been waiting YEARS to go on one of Paul’s tours.  I had read about how wonderful he was as a tour guide on the different message boards (yes, that’s how far back I read about him!) and wanted to be a part of one of his Halifax tours.   Paul’s Halifax tour was definitely worth waiting for!   It was everything I had read and more.   You can hear and feel the love he has for Halifax and Nov Scotia as he tells you about Halifax, Dartmouth, and the surrounding areas.   The information he shared through his stories, photos, and videos was amazing.   He knew exactly where to bring us so that we will have lasting memories of Halifax, not memories of crowds.  He knows all the spots to be.  For the noon gun at the Citadel and changing of the guard, we were right in front and saw and heard everything. We saw all 3 (that’s right 3 ) Titanic Cemeteries and visited two of them.  We visited the Halifax Explosion Memorial - with the information Paul had shared in the van and his explanations of everything I saw, I was moved to tears.    His passion for sharing the important, human side of the area comes through in everything he does. If you are able to book with Paul for the Historical Halifax tour - DO IT!!!!  Don’t hesitate, he is definitely the best out there and worth the cost of the tour!

Fantastic experience: This was a great private tour that showed us the beauty of Nova Scotia, ate the best lobster in a quaint villiage and toured 3 wineries. I highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: Had a really great on the South Shore including Peggy's Cove. Nice little ride in a very comfortable and clean vehicle, Paul was diligent, informative and an altogether great guide. The movies offered on board were great documentaries (though the Titanic one, while I found it incredibly interesting, may not be for everyone as it gets quite graphic about the forensic details of the catastrophe). Peggy's cove is of course beautiful, the visit of the lighthouse's scenery was amazing, and the day went by smoothly. Thank you Paul!

Positive experience: Paul McNeil was a true professional and provided a wealth of information. The movies and video clips he played while on the road were very informative and interesting. We enjoyed our tour, with one small exception. I would have liked a longer stop in Mahone Bay to enjoy this beautiful town.

Fantastic experience: This was by far the best tour we took during our 9 day cruise of Canada and New England. Paul is a rare gem in the tour industry. He is very passionate about the area, especially of the Halifax Explosion and the Titanic burial areas. Neither my husband nor I are much into history but Paul gave such an in depth tour of the area and told us so many interesting facts we were truly fascinated by everything. Paul will take you to places the big tour buses can’t access, plus he brought us to a great out of the way restaurant for dinner, which my husband said was the best fish dinner he ever had! Paul is a true gentleman, very personable and the use of the videos and pictures was outstanding. Take this tour...you won’t be disappointed!!

Fantastic experience: My mum and I did a tour of Lunenburg/Peggy's Cove with Paul this January, because it was off season he did it in his Lincoln town car, which was lovely. He is very knowledgeable and obviously passionate about history. He even picked us up from our hotel at a time that was suitable for us. As well as the tour, he also picked us up and dropped us off from the airport and is very reliable and communicative.

Fantastic experience: We took this tour with my brother and his family, making a group total of 4 adults and 6 children between the ages of 6-16. We had a fascinating day and it was amazing how quickly 6 hrs went by. It was very relaxing to drive around with someone who knew the city (Paul) and could tell/explain so much history to us. We enjoyed learning about the halifax explosion and viewing gravestones of Titanic victims. All in all, a day well spent. Would highly recommend!
