Fantastic experience: Highly recommend Karl at City Harbour Cruises for a relaxing and informative tour of the Halifax Harbour. Although drinks are available, it’s much more enjoyable than the loud Harbour hopper or tiki party tour. Karl is very knowledgeable about the area and wants his guests to be comfortable. Cozy blankets available. The boat is extremely clean with very comfortable seats. A great way to see the harbour!

Fantastic experience: My girlfriends and I were lucky enough when we were strolling on the boardwalk to see City Harbour cruises sign and decided to book a tour. we sure weren’t disappointed.Captain Karl sure knows his history on the Halifax area., he couldn’t have been more accommodating .We all agreed it was the best hour of the day. Fantastic experience: What an amazing cruise ! From the first step on the boat it was my best day in Halifax !! Karl , our captain , was friendly and was so knowledgeable about the surroundings. I learned a lot about the local history of the area. Don’t miss out if you’re in the area. Well worth it !!!

Negative experience: Just a very awkward experience. The captain didn't give my parents blankets though they were freezing and we asked for it and ended the boat tour in 45 minutes. We had even asked him if they serve beers on board and he said yes after we leave the dock however did not do so after. One of the highlights of Halifax are the beautiful houses by the water and when we asked if we can go there he replied "that's only for the private tour" in a derogatory manner. Finally the radio was on with ads throughout and we asked if we can put on our own music and again he said no. We were in Halifax for 4 days and this was definitely our least memorable experience.
Hello Kunal. We are very perplexed by your review. 1): We never deny any passenger a blanket, ever! We advertise on our website and our boardwalk signs that we have cozy blankets onboard, and they are always provided upon request. 2): You state the tour ended in 45 mins. We maintain a strict tour schedule and the one-hour public tour is always scheduled for one hour. The only time a tour could be cut short is if a group is running late for the departure time of a private tour, then it will cut into the scheduled time. 3): Serving Drinks (Beers). After each departure safety briefing, it’s stated there is a licensed bar onboard and if you care for a drink you may order from our menu at that time. We never deny serving drinks to passengers of legal age. 4): "Viewing the beautiful houses by the water." You booked online a one-hour public tour, and the description of the tour clearly indicates the route and what is included. When you boarded and asked about going to see the beautiful houses, it was explained to you that is a 2.5-hour private tour, and not able to be done during a 1-hour public tour. We’re not certain how you perceived this explanation as derogatory. Also, during a 1-hour public tour, private music is not played. This is intended for private tours only. Public tours are guided tours and sometimes the radio may be played at a low volume, unless it is requested to be turned off. It is clear you are upset because the one-hour public tour you pre-booked online could not get you into the North West Arm to see the beautiful houses by the water and you could not play your own music. It’s unfortunate you chose the 1-hour public tour instead of the 2.5 hour private tour for your family. We take pride in our small harbour cruise business, and we strive to provide the best experience possible for our passengers.
Fantastic experience: We had a great experience on our four hour boat tour. The boat was very comfortable and clean with options for sun and shade. Karl amd Rochelle were friendly and welcoming and shared lots of good information about Halifax harbour. We were able to visit the beach at McNabs Island’s wreck cove. I highly recommend this boat tour company.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely loved our cruise. The owner who is the boat captain and tour guide made us feel safe while out in the harbour in the beautiful pontoon boat. He was extremely knowledgeable on the history of the harbour, George island (which is beautiful) and the tragic Halifax harbour explosion. He took us by the Canadian Navy eastern fleet and spoke about many of the docked ships in the harbour. Best harbour tour in Halifax. Definitely a must do while in Halifax and don’t go with anyone one else but Karl as he is the absolute best Captain and Guide.

Fantastic experience: If you are in Halifax, be sure to book a harbour tour with City Harbour Cruises! My Wife, Daughter and I wanted to do a cruise and we found this gem of a company! It was small, informative and they made you feel like family! The rest of the tour companies charge an arm and a leg and try to fit as many people on a boat as they can. Price here was very reasonable and very private feeling while sharing the boat with others. Highly highly recommended!

Fantastic experience: My family and I took a cruise with City Harbour Cruises this afternoon. There's a very comfortable pontoon boat, plenty of seating plus an onboard bar! The captain and guide, Carl, was a great host with good knowledge of the area and its history. Even our kids loved the tour. Highly recommended way to see the entire Halifax harbour and enjoy being on the water.

Fantastic experience: My sister and I had a wonderful time with Karl on City Harbour Tours! We did the sunset tour and Karl was very knowledgeable about the local area. Fantastic experience: Went out for a Harbour tour, we prefer a pontoon so booked. If you are ever in Halifax we recommend this tour. We arrived an did the first tour of the day. Ended up hubby and I on the pontoon. We learned alot of Halifax and the history. Thank you for an enjoyable tour.

Fantastic experience: Had a wonderful tour of the Harbour. My wife and I were the only two that signed up for our time slot that day and the owner/operator didn’t bat an eye. The service offers drinks which was nice. Provided some great insight into the history and current goings on in Halifax and Dartmouth. Very much recommend this tour!

Fantastic experience: An absolutely amazing Harbour Tour by a knowledgeable Haligonian. The price was very reasonable and the ride was very comfortable with great views. The tour went out and around George's Island, back under the Angus Macdonald Bridge to the narrows of the Bedford Basin and back to the Halifax Harbour Front.

Fantastic experience: My wife and I were let down on a cruise booking that we had made with another company. Whilst standing on the quayside I got chatting with Carl. I couldn't believe it when he offered to prepare his boat and take just my wife and myself on a harbour cruise. We had a wonderful hour in his beautifully modern and comfortable boat supported by his detailed and knowledgeable commentary. Fantastic experience: Five stars. If I could give more I would. Being someone who gets “sea sick” quite easily I was a bit worried about going out on a boat. The swells were pretty big, even in the harbour. We never had to say anything. Captain Karl had great control so our tour was absolutely flawless. The boat is so incredibly comfortable. A luxury cruise but affordable. The other tour boats at the harbour were okay, but for the same cost they were not even comparable to the city harbour cruises. The groups are smaller and more personal and leave lots of opportunity to ask questions and get an answer. The amount of history we learned was awesome. So much to see and so informative (take the tour - so I don’t spoil it) we were also told a lot of places to go to around the city historical places to explore and things to do an visit. I made notes because it became a part of our trip. I highly recommend this tour as a MUST to anyone visiting Halifax. You will not regret it.

Fantastic experience: We found City Harbour Cruises on the dock during our Royal Caribbean port stop. We chose a private tour so we could stop and swim in the Atlantic. The captain was so accommodating!! He let us choose our music, took us to a great spot to swim and gave us some history of Halifax. His boat was beautiful and clean.. so comfortable! He also had local beverages and non-alcoholic wine for our 18yr olds, their first time trying this!! Highly recommend!!

Fantastic experience: This was a truly memorable experience for us! Our host was on time, very friendly and engaging. He was knowledgeable and made some great recommendations for other things to experience. We were out on time, and the vessel was very clean and well maintained. It was comfortable, and we felt safe as all the expected safety instructions were provided, and safety gear was on hand and easily accessible. This isn't a long tour at 1 hour however, very worth the low cost of $42.00 per person. We got to see the harbour, enjoy the scenery, the breeze, the music, conversation, and education. We would go again for sure. Family friendly... This is a small business owned by a couple who are very nice (very friend worthy), and it is obvious that they take pride in what they do and work very hard. Personal thanks for making our day fun and a memory never to be forgotten!

If you are looking for something special, walk past the kiosk on the dock and find City Harbour Cruises on the pier. Fantastic experience: Karl was wonderful to communicate with leading up to our booking. He was patient when we were a few minutes late, and was relaxed and friendly. His wife was very hospitable and accommodating as well! The boat was comfortable although we didn't expect to have to separate the group (within the boat) to distribute the weight. A mild inconvenience but just something we never thought to consider before! We had a great time and would totally go again!

Fantastic experience: Absolutely wonderful cruise with Karl. We are vacationing with our two yellow Labs and really wanted to do a cruise of the harbour in Halifax so we approached Karl and he agreed. A woman from Whitehorse joined us for an almost 2 hour cruise. Beautiful boat in pristine condition, Karl gave us all sorts of great information on what we were seeing, the history and the importance to the area and to Canada. Karl knows his stuff and tailored our tour to what was interesting and unique. We had a great time.

Fantastic experience: My work crew and I Went on an hour cruise this past weekend with Carl and he was absolutely amazing! He was very friendly and super knowledgeable about his city. He taught us a lot about the hisotry of Halifax and its harbour. He even showed us some fun Nova Scotian music and dance moves :) The cruise was the highlight of our work trip (we were visiting for the weekend from Vancouver BC). Highly recommended!

Fantastic experience: Absolute highlight of the summer. Karl is amazing business owner and takes great pride in making sure your private cruise is an event to remember. We cruised up the Northwest Arm on a beautiful Saturday afternoon for bachelorette party. They have a beautiful bar to sit at and have drinks or sit in the sofa area in the back. They even have a bathroom onboard. Will definitely book again.

Positive experience: Had a very nice tour with friends visiting from Ontario! We did a 3 hour tour and got to see the Halifax harbour, the islands, the arm and the Bedford basin. Lots of seating available, they had blankets and a bathroom on board, drinks you can buy at the bar, and they let you play your own music. I would have preferred to tip at the end of our tour after we had experienced the services but was prompted to when I paid upon boarding. Overall a great trip!

Positive experience: Had a great tour on the Halifax Harbour Hopper with my daughter. It was the first tour of the season and the guide warned us that they might be a bit rusty, however they did a fantastic job! We only got to see a bit of Spring Garden road due to construction, but the harbour tour on the water was extended to compensate so I was super happy. Definitely worth the money! Be sure to ask the driver to"make a splash" when you enter the water....it is lots of fun!

They also have the best pick up/drop off spot at Bishops Landing on the Halifax Waterfront

Fantastic experience: I booked this solo cruise for our 10th Anniversary. I planned it as a sunset cruise (8:30-10:30pm) and it did not disappoint whatsoever. We ran fully west into the Bedford Basin and saw some properties that one wouldn't normally be able to see. And the sunset was amazing. I was able to meet with Karl prior to the cruise to arrange details and special requests. He was excited as I was to see her reaction. Nothing but professional. Boat was just the right size, comfortable with all amenities that you need. Very highly recommend. We loved the privacy of having it all to ourselves, but as a group it would be a fun time on the water. We will book again!
