Fantastic experience: The tour was fantastic, driver/host gave a wonderful commentary. The only down side was the provision of rugs. By the time we realised just how cold it was, on the route, passengers were scrambling to find them. Is it not possible to locate them nearer to seats?

Negative experience: We've done Grayline tours in several cities and usually think they are a great way to see, learn, and get around the city. But during the off season here is the problem: with busses running just every 2 hours, this means if you want to get off and check something out, you have to wait 2 hours before the next bus comes around. But when a cruise ship is in town, there is a second problem, they don't add more busses, so there are not enough covered seats on the bus. We got off after only 4 stops because we didn't want to get soaked. On a rainless day and during a season in which a bus comes around once an hour, this is a great choice. But not at the end of October. The picture shown is BEFORE it really started to downpour and we left.

Positive experience: Went in Fall Oct 17, 2024 and had a great time and we felt it wa worth the price. Upper deck was cold due to the weather but they offered blankets which helped dramatically. We would definitely do it again and next time we will jump off and on. The original tour is 90 min and at this time that's all we wanted to do. Very pleased family of 3.

Fantastic experience: Hop On, Hop Off Bus Tours is an efficient way to get around Victoria. You can literally Hop Off in any area and Hop Back on an hour later. Pick ups start at the Fairmont Empress Hotel. (Empress Hotel is a High Tea kind of place-- don't expect to use their restrooms.). The Tour winds you along the harbor, Chinatown, and multiple historic areas. Lots of shopping. In Chinatown, try the Filipino Friends and Family Bake for freshly-made, purple Ube (yam) donuts. Incredible! There's a shop, Puzzle Labs, that sells mind-blowing 3 dimensional puzzles. You get an excellent feel for the city and surrounds. Reasonably priced ($40 Canadian), clean, handicapped friendly.

Negative experience: Hop on just along the Express Hotel, this station was manned by 2 very unhappy and sarcastic staffs. The older guy (driver)keep complaining that cruise passengers are crowding up his bus etc and sound very unwelcoming of tourists ( hopefully not all Victorians are like them). One gentleman in the queue asked the staff where the nearest toilet was and he answered didn't your ship (Ovation of the Sea) have a toilet. Very sad to see how Hop On and Off staff treats their customers... Like Dirt. Which is Horrible. Be careful if you are hopping in and out..of this junk service bus.

Negative experience: Tour was fine, driver (Norm) was rude, condescending, extremely sarcastic, and very repetitive and disrespectful. Tour was overbooked and no one wanted to get off as we were afraid we would not get back on. Would not do again.

Negative experience: Not worth it. This is an overly priced, tourist trap that isn't worth your money. You will gain nothing from taking this bus tour. The places that are the most interesting are all located near the Empress hotel and you can walk there. If you have issues walking, then take an uber or rent a moped, scooter or bicycle (there is a shop literally next to the Empress hotel). Also, not all of their buses are accessible. So if you are wheelchair bound, you may be stuck waiting two hours for the next bus since at least one of those doesn't have an accessibility ramp or accessible seating.

Negative experience: No problem paying $120 for ticket when you have to stand in line for an hour and the bus arrive and people of the back of the line started to pass us and they got in and we couldn’t because the bus was full and they knew who it was and the bus driver and the other staff They didn’t want to do nothing put a bad taste in my mouth for Victoria city and hop on hop off they called that vacation in Victoria

Negative experience: Purses tickets waited one hour in line for tour . They have no control people behind us cut line inform guide but didn’t care . Poor service. Do not recommend unless you want to wast your time that maybe you can get on .

Negative experience: This was by far one of the worst tours I've done. I have done several hop on hop off tours in other cities and they have been fabulous but, this one was awful. The time between busses was an hour not giving you time to really hop on and hop off for a quick stop, only to wait a long time for the next bus. Fortunately, there we're any cruise ships in town and the busses weren't full causing us to wait for the next buss. The driver was polite but, not a informative guide. Two of us for 120.00 was not worth it!!

Negative experience: Not a good experience in Vancouver, BC. Purchased our tickets via concierge at our hotel for the Hop-On-Hop-Off Tour. First time we got on the bus we showed the driver our printed ticket with barcode. He wasn't really interested. We were never asked for our ticket on the 3 busses we rode on. I felt like anyone could get on without a ticket! The guide we had for our 1st ride was very good. After we hopped off at a stop to enjoy lunch and shopping of course we had a new bus and a new driver when we hopped back on but no guide. We repeatedly told the driver the speakers were not working so we heard nothing from stop #8 through #14 which is close to 1/2 the tour. Even on the bus where speakers were working it was difficult to hear since windows were open and the bus and traffic tended to drown out the guide. Sometimes when there is no guide, they have a recording that provides the history of the city or the driver provides the narration. All around disappointing.

Fantastic experience: We always take bus tours when visiting new a new city. You get a quick capture of everything and can choose where to spend time. The drive and tour was worth it!

Negative experience: I paid $120 not a problem. The first stop we wanted to take was China town. Driver never stopped, she blew by and continued on. We got off at fisherman's wharf, pick was on time. Next we went to the castle, we returned 10 minutes before the bus was due. We waited for over hour no bus. We hired a taxi which cost an additional $15 to Chinatown. I strongly suggest for people wanting to see Victoria it's far cheaper to hire a taxi. I feel I was taken advantage of and I would like a refund.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic tour great way to see a city. Pam was especially wonderful. She gave me and my family the time we needed to load the bus with my 99-year-old grandmother and because of her we were able to catch the bus when she could’ve easily left us behind. Thank you, Pam!

Fantastic experience: We loved this experience of seeing the city of Victoria and listening to the history and fun sights from our informative bus driver. It was great to hop off at any destination and have a bite to eat or tour about and then hop back on. We enjoyed sitting in the upper open deck and the views were amazing. Positive experience: Great way to sample sights in any city. In Vancouver they could use an upgrade on the busses, and amenities at the stops. Miss the drive through Stanley Park which is no longer provided. Hopefully they can bring it back in the future.

Janet Larkman 2 years ago

Positive experience: It is expensive compared to other cities. The busses run hourly. The circuits are well planned.

Positive experience: Nice comfortable buses but low headroom especially upstairs. Pricey considering only operates afternoons.

Bella Anderson 2 years ago

Positive experience: Cost $58 each. Quite expensive if you just want to get your bearings but you do get to use it for 24 hours from first use. Great to be able to hop on and off at places if interest. We were a bit short on time so basically used this to see eliminate what to and not to, see. I recommend taking something warm to wear, a jacket if sitting outside. I froze! You can go inside but photo ops are limited. Also, the bus I was on, the red one, raced. Couldn’t really get any decent pics.

Fantastic experience: The driver is very knowledgeable and funny. The staff at the registration are very nice and accommodating. Strongly recommend to hop on the bus on your first day at Victoria, as your tickets are valid for 24 hours. Not just a tour, but they will pick you up every hour from the attractions they drop you off.

Marina Canalejo 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: The tour was great and one of the tour guides had a lot to say and made it fun. It is good value for it's price because they let you get on and off all over the city. Cheaper than a taxi or a rental car, that's for sure! And saves you the driving or figuring out the transit system.

Fantastic experience:

Fantastic experience: Good tour, top notch driver.

Positive experience: It was a fun experience! There is lots to see in victoria and the hop on hop off bus was helpful to see the top attractions in victoria. On the bus they play a voice over which tells you about what you are seeing. The bus drivers also add in extra details and sometimes jokes. Plan to go on a warm sunny day because the top of the bus is the place to be. If the weather is not the best blankets are provided but there are limited quantities so get there early.
