Fantastic experience: WOWWE! What an incredible experience. First time whale watching in BC and honestly couldn’t have been better. Richard, Sandy, Eden and Georgia were a delightful team and made us feel safe and welcome from the very start. The boat was comfortable and the complimentary hot chocolate delicious! Fantastic experience: This whale-watching trip couldn't have been better! Capt Richard and First Mate Sandy got us to the humpbacks immediately and soon found a pod of Orcas that we followed for some time. The crew decided to follow the Orcas because there were transient Orcas that were harder to find. I was in front of the boat with Crew member Michael, who was very helpful and a wealth of information. Aleesia was available for questions. The ship is big and comfortable inside with lots of outdoor areas too. They serve complimentary warm drinks. After watching whales for 3 hours the captain stopped by the lighthouse to show is Seals and Sealions and then to visit a little sea otter. Couldn't have asked for more.

Fantastic experience: This was an unbelievably great experience. We saw lots of Orcas and several Humpbacks, and they came right up to the boat. Lots of sea lions too. The boat was great, very clean and spacious and not too packed. Richard and Sandy did a great job starting us off and taking control of the boat, and it was smooth sailing. Shoutout to Reid who is an absolute superstar - her enthusiasm for the whales and wildlife was so infectious and she did an amazing job, she gave us so much interesting information and made sure nobody missed anything they wanted to see. Michael also took some amazing photos and did a great job too - and getting the photos by email for free later in the day is a fantastic touch. A fantastic company with great staff and a truly wonderful day. I plan to look back at these photos for many years to come and remember a special day.

Fantastic experience: Amazing tour! Much more better than I expected! I saw killer whales, humpbacks, and sea lions. The ship is stable, not uncomfortable. Crews are friendly and knowledgeable. A suggestion is that could you please add simplified Chinese into digital language guide? There are quite a few good reviews on Xiaohongshu (Chinese social app). Fantastic experience: Two dear friends who were on their first whale-watching experience and I were so fortunate to have had the MOST amazing trip with Prince of Whales on Oct 13. From Captain Richard and Sandy who did a solid safety briefing and handled the boat to allow us the optimal whale-watching experience to Reid the naturalist who shared lots of knowledge in an engaging and enthusiastic way, to Georgia who worked her camera and sent us (free) fantastic photos of the wildlife we had seen; the entire crew were wonderful. Fantastic experience: The half day trip on the catamaran made our dream come true! It was our third whale watch tour this two week holiday on Vancouver Island but by far the best. Okay the weather helped a bit, sunny autumn day and smooth seas but the crew managed to take us straight to the right places. Orca’s, whales galore. Sea lions, seals, you name it. Steady piloting by captains Richard and Sandy made for a nauseous free experience. Our very knowledgeable guide Reid taught us a plethora of facts while photographer Georgia shot amazing pictures of the animals my iPhone 15pro could never match. And they were dropped in our mailbox two hours later. Wonderful experience that we would gladly recommend!

Fantastic experience: An Unforgettable Experience – Highly Recommended! From start to finish, this was an excellent adventure. Every employee was friendly, polite, and clearly explained all the details, ensuring we felt well-prepared for the trip. The journey itself was absolutely magical. Our captain, Mark, was incredible. His knowledge of marine life, especially the humpbacks and orcas, was evident, and it’s clear he has a true passion for his work after studying these magnificent creatures for decades. We were amazed by the number of humpbacks and orcas we encountered—so many pods of orcas that we lost count! The highlight was witnessing a pod of orcas attacking a sea lion, and even more orcas joined in—an unbelievable sight, though we felt for the poor sea lion. Fantastic experience: After a cruise to Alaska that ended in extreme disappointment (they canceled 3 ports) this tour truly gave a happy end to an otherwise crappy honeymoon. We saw orcas, humpbacks, seals and sea lions! The crew was amazing; Micheal took great photos (all included for free!!!), Reid was so funny and made the environment so welcoming, and Rajan answered every-single of my many wildlife questions! I would 100% recommend this tour for all ages, was a great experience all around AND my husband said the hot chocolate was super yummy!

Fantastic experience: What a magical trip! We went out on the 1130am boat on Sunday Sept 22. The boat ride was smooth, the crew was fantastic, and we saw so many whales. One of the naturalists said it was his top 3 trip of the year! Saw more Orcas than could keep track of, some humpbacks, 100s of sea lions and seals, and an otter. The naturalists were so knowledgeable and personable. In our group of 5, 2 of them had never seen whales before and I can’t imagine a better first trip.

Fantastic experience: 9/22/24 11 AM Zodiac Tour - This was an amazing adventure thanks to our terrific guide, Sam. We spotted 2 humpback whales within the first 30 minutes and then came upon a pod of at least 20 orca’s cavorting in the water. We all got plenty of video of the beautiful creatures as we safely followed the pod for much of the morning. It was a memorable experience for everyone on board. Sam was enthusiastic and his excitement made this truly amazing discovery all the more meaningful. The rest of the team at Prince of Whales was welcoming and helpful…from check-in to getting suited up in the warm jumpsuits, freshly laundered hats and gloves! Thank you for a day I’ll never forget.

Fantastic experience: My partner surprised me with a trip out on one of the zodiacs for my birthday, Sept 20, and it was the best time I've had in a long time! Trey was so fun and knowledgeable and because there wasn't a scheduled trip after our group he was able to zip out so we could see an orca before we headed back in. I had never seen a humpback whale before and yesterday we saw so many! One popped up as we made our way back and got so close we had to stop for it to go by. We saw sea lions, and humpbacks and a lone male orca, as well as a spiral of turkey vultures as they prepared to cross to the mainland. The whole day was spectacular, thank you Trey and Prince of Whales ❤️❤️❤️

Fantastic experience: What an amazing experience!!! We booked a sunset Whale Watching Tour out of Victoria recently and we were not disappointed. We saw whales and so much more. Our crew Richard, Gord, Algerbra and Rajan were wonderful, knowledgeable and fun. The boat was very clean and you could tell there is pride in what they do. I especially like that they take pictures for you, since not everyone has a camera that can get those kind of shots, or in the excitement of seeing whales, one forgets to take photos. Next time we venture from Alberta to the coast we will definitely be booking another tour!!!

Fantastic experience: 16 Sept: 11:00 am sailing - we joined captain Francois, Gord, Algebra, Michael & Reid team on the morning sailing from Victoria. The safety briefing was thorough, entertaining yet reassuring. The trip was stunning, with whale sightings, sea lions, seals & sea birds. The ecological & naturalistic information given by Algebra was so informative & interesting. Captain Francois & Gordon created the perfect voyage & a big thank you goes to them. Fantastic experience: I really had a great time on the Sunset Tour. I decided spontaneously to go on that tour and don’t regret it. We saw killerwhales in hunting acting and Michael gave a lot of information about the whales (thank you!). A really nice thing about that tour is you get photos of the whales from that tour later on, so you can just enjoy the experience. I can really recommend this tour.

Fantastic experience: We had a wonderful experience with the Prince of Whales Adventures in Victoria. The crew was super friendly, knowledgeable and fun! (Jamie gave us the best safe talk with a dash of humour). We saw a group of Orcas, some sealions and an amazing sunset. Our package included an IMAX film about Blue Whales and it was also a great experience. I also love that they share pictures with us at the end of the trip!

Fantastic experience: This tour was absolute perfection. Each of the crew members made our experience top notch. Our captains Francois and Sandy kept us and all the wildlife safe during the cruise. Fantastic experience: We are so glad we chose Price of Whales for our whale watching experience in Victoria! The boat was large and didn’t feel over crowded at all. We got to see two kinds of whales - orcas and humpbacks! And saw lots of sea lions too. They even provide complimentary tea, coffee and hot chocolate. Reid, Michael, and Rajan were our tour guides and they were all fun and informative!! Michael provided some really interesting facts and information about the Orcas which was fun to learn about, she really knew her stuff! Would highly recommend a day learning and watching whales with this group!

Fantastic experience: Great 4h tour. We saw Orcas, a Humpback Whale, Sea Lions, Seals, lots of aquatic birds. Very fast boat, so ideal to cover a good distance between the best viewing spots. Nice staff, in addition very knowledgeable experts were on board that explained and commented. Pictures (later sharable and downloadable) are taken for you by pros, so you can concentrate on seeing the wildlife "live" (the pictures all have a watermark and are fairly small, so not ideal for calendar or other use, but the quality is very good and they definitely suffice to share your experience - in fact the pictures are probably better than 95% of participants would be able to take even if they had similar equipment).

Fantastic experience: We did a zodiac tour and Trey was our captain. He took us out of the bay and we saw 3 humpbacks and a yearling which was brilliant. Then he took us off looking for more humpbacks as he’d heard there were a lot of them further round the coast. His navigation over the swell was amazing. And so much fun! He found them and we were surrounded by humpbacks. It was breathtaking. He went out of his way to make sure we found them. What an experience. Thank you!

Negative experience: Book with Eagle Wing instead!! Booked a Sunset Cruise with Prince of Wales on a Catamaran, but it was canceled due to low bookings. We were told to keep calling for updates and switch to a 12 p.m. cruise if possible. After being told there was no space, we suddenly got a spot but were rushed and misinformed about check-in. The boat left without us, and there was poor communication throughout. We did get a refund, but the experience was frustrating. They called us at 4pm letting us know that the sunset cruise was no longer cancelled♀️ In the future, we would have wanted to book the zodiac instead of the catamaran if the option was presented to us earlier on in the rebooking process. Also mention that it is possible your boat ride gets cancelled during checkout so that we are not surprised after payment is confirmed.

Fantastic experience: What a great trip, we saw a few whales and tonnes of sea lions, literally! The day was a little blustery but it was still smooth sailing on the catamaran. The crew was great, approchable, friendly and knowledgeable. I really appreciated that they had someone on board taking photos, it really freed me up so I could fully immerse in the experience and not have to worry about dropping my phone in the ocean! And the complimentary hot beverage was a lovely bonus.

Fantastic experience: We have taken two whale watching tours with Prince of Whales and both were incredible! We took the catamaran tour both times and really enjoyed the various viewpoints (some with wind/weather coverage which is great when it's windy on the water like it was today), having bathrooms available, complimentary warm beverages, knowledgable deck hands (experienced naturalists who gave us so much info about the wildlife we encountered!), and, of course, the whales!! Fantastic experience: 10 out of 5 stars! I can't even begin to explain how incredible this experience was! The ship was clean and comfortable. The crew (Algebra, Lindsay, Sam, Reid and Richard) were hilarious, fun and exciting - yet completely professional, trustworthy and knowledgeable. Fantastic experience: I LoVe this experience and I did it two consecutive years! Not only did they have a professional photographer, but also a very passionate biologist called Algebra (she has been my high school biology field trip teacher!) the whole crew is very responsible and high energy. I really appreciate all their efforts. I’ve been on 2 sunset whale trips and I have seen multiple whales (first time), 3 pods of orcas (2nd time) and a humpback whale (2nd time). And obviously the seals and sea lions islands are a staple. But I highly highly recommend anyone who wants to do whale watch go with this company! Fantastic experience: Going out on a whale watch is exciting and still full of surprises. Will it be great weather? Dense fog? But Captain Francois and Sandy worked diligently to get us to the right places at the right time to see humpback whales including mom and her calf, harbor seals, Stellar sea lions, California sea lions and even a pair of bald eagles. Fantastic experience: Experience of a lifetime! We saw a pod of orcas, sea lions, seals, and some other amazing wildlife. I went on a sunset trip and I was sure glad that I went on a boat that had a warm place to take rests from the cold ocean wind and also had bathrooms— the tour was three hours after all. Fantastic experience: George was an excellent guide! We saw 5 killer whales, 2 humpback whales, a plethora of sea lions and sea birds. The Zodiac ride was a little rough on a westerly wind, but I was grinning widely the whole time because it's not every day I get to do that.

Negative experience: What a traumatic experience we had... Before leaving, Captain Dan told us that it could "kick" a little outside the harbor. But he didn't give us any other information on the height of the waves, how to behave when the boat was going to catch a wave, the winds, etc... It was sunny and there was little wind in the harbor. So why worry? After all, these people must know what they are doing? We had no idea of the experience that awaited us. About two hours of zodiac until a bay to watch whales and about two hours to return. The captain never asked us if everything was okay, if we wanted to change places or gave us any information on returning. He was driving too fast, the waves were too high. We thought the boat was going to overturn. We were making signs to him that things weren't going well and he didn't do anything. No one on the boat had a good experience. Results: after 4 hours of "kicking", on high waves, too high speed and high winds, we injured our backs, shoulders and neck. It was too expensive to pay to get hurt. Before booking, find out! Before you leave, ask about conditions outside the harbor. Make an informed decision!

Fantastic experience: This whale watching tour was amazing! We were lucky enough to see a pod of orcas, and the naturalists were so knowledgeable. We had Jamie, Algebra, and Michael, and you could tell they loved what they do! They answered every question and made the experience so fun and easy. I love how they also give the whales their space and are respectful, but you still get fairly close to them! The complimentary drinks are also a great plus. Being out on the ocean on their catamaran is an extremely fun experience just by itself. The crew and boat is amazing and I fully recommend this whale watching company!

Fantastic experience: We had a great trip with Prince of Whales. Algebra, our Tourguide/Naturalist told us a lot (fun-)facts about Orca Whales, which I found as fascinating as seeing the Orcas themselves. OK, perhaps seeing the Orcas was still a bit cooler. And we DID see Orcas! And Sealions! And apparently Harbour Seals, but I am afraid, I missed those… Anyhow, overall, a great experience on a nice boat with a lovely crew (next to Algebra there where Reid and Michael as Guides and Richard as Captain with Gord as First Mate) Oh, and one important thing I nearly forgot! The Prince of Whales Crew takes professional pictures and provide them for download after the trip (for free) This way you can focus on watching the wildlife, not on trying to get something (visible) in the picture.

Fantastic experience: Had an amazing time with the Prince of Whales tour. Got to see many different types of marine wildlife including Orca and Humpback whales. It was great hearing the safety orientation by Captain Francois and First Mate Gord. The instructions by Jamie at the start of the voyage were clear and kept everyone smiling. Michael was very knowledgeable while taking beautiful pictures. Samantha was an absolute pleasure to talk with during the voyage. Fantastic experience: (This review is from our excursion on July 26, 2024 @ 12:30pm). To say my family and I had a great time whale watching would be a huge understatement. It was such an experience! The catamaran was quite large and easy to get around on, so moving around to get photos of the orcas when they appeared was a breeze. The crew was very knowledgeable and safety-oriented. Our captain Francois and First Mate Lindsey did a masterful job keeping us safe on the boat, and the naturalists (Michael, Algebra, and Maddie) were amazing at providing us with a lot of information along our journey. Michael also took some great shots with his camera, which meant we didn’t have to run everywhere to get pictures on our phones. All in all, it was an amazing day and we hope to do it again!!

Fantastic experience: We had an INCREDIBLE time! We’ve heard stories about whale watching trips and not seeing anything, so we honestly weren’t expecting a lot. We did get to see a pod of orcas, two humpback whales, and a bunch of seals! I’ve lived on the island for 30 years and have never seen any whales despite the many times on the ferry, fishing trips, etc., so this was my first time, and it was magical. Our guides were Jamie, Michael, and Maddie, and they were all amazing! Michael took some great photos for everyone on board that we got access to after the trip. I was viewing the whales from the top deck with Jamie, and she provided so much interesting information on the whales! She was very knowledgeable, personable, and funny! The boat was comfortable and a very smooth ride, the inside was warm with big windows so you could still see all the action while staying warm and cozy. Overall a really amazing and magical experience ! I didn’t take many photos myself as I knew we would get access to the professional ones later, and only have videos!

Fantastic experience: I recommend the Zodiac trip if you enjoy a bit of excitement. This was our second trip - 3 years ago we didn’t see whales and we were able to finally make use of their guarantee re sighting. There’s a bit of fine print to the process but the girl at the front desk was very helpful and understanding. They have more than one boat on the water at any time so they are able to coordinate amongst them which presumably improves the chance of sighting whales.

Staff are friendly and knowledgeable, the vessel is also clean and comfortable with hot chocolate served. Fantastic experience: We had the BEST experience on the sunset cruise tonight!!!!! We were so lucky to see the whales multiple times, including during dinner time when they munched on a seal. Fantastic experience: We went on the sunset cruise last night, we were a group of 8 and I had my special needs son with. This cruise exceeded my expectations by so much! It was such an amazing cruise. The water was rough and my son has mobility issues, Marshal went out of his way to make sure my son was able to see the whales without having to get up and move. Every member of the Crew was exceptional! We saw so many whales and it was so nice knowing I didn't have to take pictures. The pictures they took and emailed were spectacular! This cruise came recommended to me by a family that lives in Victoria, they always take visitors on it. I am so glad they recommended it to us!

Fantastic experience: Our family had our whale watching tour cancelled by another company and in a stressful moment to book another one last minute (less than 24 hours and while on a cruise) I booked it for the wrong day. Upon arrival to our tour, they informed me that I had the wrong day and seeing how devastated the whole family was, especially me (we had been looking forward to this all year), the crew from Prince of Whales worked tirelessly to book us with another company. We weren't able to all go, but Prince of Whales staff was kind, understanding, helpful, and went above and beyond to make sure they could at least help provide what we had expected to some of us. We are eternally grateful for that.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic tour on the Zodiac yesterday. It was a bit windy which meant that we couldn't go too far out, but Mike took us around the bay to see a pod of Killer Whales, which was unreal to see. He then took us to the Chatham Islands to see what he called the "rock sausage" or seals to us. On the way back he gave us the ride of a lifetime across the 5ft waves. I've never experienced anything like it, bouncing up and down on the swell. Everyone was laughing hysterically and all got an absolute soaked. Fantastic experience: We enjoyed watching the whales and learning about how they work together as a unit. The crew were great giving us so many opportunities to see and film the whales. My only complaint would be the people who were expected us to give up the seat they had been sitting in earlier! At one point we had been in a seat for 15-20 minutes when someone came and expected us to move because they left a half empty disposable cup by the seat.

Positive experience: Excellent tour and we got to see some orcas. We got a good live commentary and explanation from Maddy when we came close to wildlife. Good safety briefing by the captain François and there was always an interesting discussion with the naturalists. Not sure the guarantee is worthwhile. Many folk will be in Victoria for a short time, like us, and so will probably not be able to rake another trip if they done get to see the whales.

Fantastic experience: We had an excellent trip out on the Zodiac with our guide and Skipper Marshall. Our first attempt at finding whales was thwarted by fog, but we moved to a different part of the Salish Sea and got to hang out with a beautiful humpback whale who was feeding on krill. Choose the Zodiac option if you enjoy the thrills of speed boats- it is open air and moves up 55miles an hour! Our guide Marshall was friendly, knowledgeable and extremely skilled at driving the boat- we moved fast and had some exciting dips and bumps on the waves, but safety was never a concern. (If you’d rather have a calmer ride on a larger boat- opt for the Catamaran) All in all, a highly recommended experience, well worth the price tag. I’d be happy to do it again next time I visit Victoria.

Fantastic experience: We had an amazing sunset cruise with Prince of Whales. Captain Francois and First Mate Gord did a great job driving the boat to an awesome spot to view a pod of orcas. Naturalists Algebra, Michael and Jamie did an exceptional job of informing us about the whales and were accessible to answer all of our questions. Not only did we have an outstanding experience of viewing orcas, but we gained new knowledge and insights into how they live. I felt 100% safe on the boat and was overjoyed that they took photos to download for free, shortly after the trip, so I could enjoy watching the whales without distraction.
