Fantastic experience: So happy I chose Blackwood Tours for our excursion in Sydney! It really was the highlight excursion of our whole cruise. With Mike, our guide, we spent approximately six hours driving out along the shore of Cape Breton. Mike told many stories throughout the ride as he had spent his whole life there. We saw so many places, and were fortunate enough to be there during the prime of fall leaf colors! Mike took the time and made sure our desires for the tour were all met. We had such a fun filled day with Mike’s humorous stories.Mike made sure to maximize the time we had with him and tailored the day for our group. Thank you Mike and Blackwood Tours! Fantastic experience: We did the Ft Louisbourg tour as a cruise excursion, booking directly through Blackwood Tours. We really enjoyed our trip. We were in a van with one other couple instead of a large tour bus. Our guide was very informative and passionate about Cape Breton. We loved getting to see the lighthouse in addition to the fort and appreciated hearing all about the history of the area. I feel we had a much better value than booking one of the cruise sponsered excursions and highly recommend using Blackwood Tours.

Fantastic experience: My partner and I booked this Cabot Trail van tour privately during a port visit to Sydney, N.S. In July, ‘24. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Our driver/guide, Kevin, who grew up in the area was totally knowledgeable about our route. He explained the history of Cape Breton Isl, more in depth history of the Cabot Trail section we explored as well as stories of local life, and his own experiences. We had several stops for dramatic photo ops, legs stretching and local business visits. The van was a modern, comfortable 14 passenger style. Kevin was very aware of our ship departure time and was careful to adjust as necessary to return us exactly when needed. I highly recommend Blackwood tours as a more inexpensive alternative to ship sponsored tours that won’t provide such personalized service and attention to detail.

Fantastic experience: We took the "Mini Cabot Trail" tour of Cape Breton as a shore excursion while on a cruise. (We booked directly, not through the cruise line.) It was definitely a highlight of our entire 10-day trip! Our guide and our driver (Bob and Frannie) were just great! They were both very experienced - as drivers, guides and local residents - and provided a fun, relaxed and very personalized tour. The bus held about 20 or so people and our group of 6 was very comfortable. Bob made interesting comments throughout the tour but also knew when to be quiet and just let us enjoy the beautiful scenery. (That is a rare and valuable skill as we later learned from taking other tours on this trip!) Also, his civic pride in both Cape Breton and Sydney were evident and made us enjoy and appreciate not only the natural beauty, but also the people and community as well. Would highly recommend!!!
