Icefield Discovery Tours

Fantastic experience: Other reviewers here justifiably praise their experience on the flight tours into the icefields of Kluane Park in the shadow of Mt Logan. Many landed at the base camp and enjoyed a short time on the ground to walk about, marvel at the views and take memorable photos. We were two of those who opted to stay for a couple of nights at the camp and experience the majesty of the surroundings for an extended period. Waking up to a sun-bathed ocean of snow surrounded by Mt Logan, Mt Queen Mary and other mountains, as well as numerous nunataks (peaks of smaller mountains poking through the snow) was extremely special. Skiing or snowshoeing to some of the closer features added greatly to the experience. Our leader/guide, Sian Williams single handedly took care of us throughout our time on the icefields, always with a mind to safety and capabilities of all participants. Our experiences on the icefields will be forever engraved in our minds

Fantastic experience: The flight we made over the Kaskawulsh glacier was breathtakingly beautiful. Landing on the glacier, with a view of Mt Logan, made you feel like you were in Antarctica. In short, a FANTASTIC 'once in a life time' experience.

Fantastic experience: Icefield Discovery, owner Sian, and her staff went above and beyond with their climber support this Spring. They even attempted to fly us into the mountains (and get other climbers out) despite a chance of bad weather. Most other bush pilots I've flown with would have never made that attempt, for fear of losing profits. Sian, her pilot Sam, and the whole crew made us feel welcome, safe, and valued. I'd highly recommend Icefield Discovery for both tours and climber support!

Fantastic experience: Amazing experience above one of the greatest landscape ever seen. Our pilot, Ken, was able to land on the glacier despite meteo conditions all but favorable. Suuuuuuper recommended!!

Fantastic experience: A wonderful experience. With our group, we took both planes doing two different tours. Ken, who was piloting the plane I was on, was an exceptional pilot; we even landed on the glacier. Sian, who manages the tours, was helpful and precise, choosing the best weather day for us. Fantastic experience: it can not be put in words! we had perfect weather for the landing on the glacier. to my shame i do not remember the name of our pilot, he was absolutely great. the whole team made this THE experience of our trip to the Yukon. i was also amazed to see this really "old" Helio Airplane in an perfect shape! so don't think about it...DO IT!

Fantastic experience: Yukon is a vast, rugged, remote landscape that is beyond description. You can drive the highways, hike some trails, or even float a river or two, but in doing so most people will only experience a fraction of the more accessible areas. To really get a feel for the immenseness of the Yukon, my wife and I chartered a two-hour flight with Icefield Discovery Tours. We were very specific in what we wanted to see; the landscape of Kluane National Park and the area north to the White River. Weeks before the tour, I had emailed Icefield Discovery the locations I wanted to fly over. Arriving at the airfield we were met by Sian. I explained to Sian that we were a bit nervous about flying in a small plane, having never done that before. Sian introduced us to Surpaul, the pilot, and gave us rundown on Surpaul’s experience. They also showed us the flight patterned that we would be flying. Sian and Surpaul showed us the plane that we would be flying in and showed us the safety features. That was enough to convince us we were in good hands. From the takeoff to the landing, we felt comfortable and safe. It was a beautiful day for flying. And Surpaul showed us some amazing sites and told us about history and discoveries of the region. The flight was well worth the price and as we reflect on our trip to Yukon, Icefield Discovery was our favorite experience.

Fantastic experience: This was one of the coolest things I've ever done and was certainly one of the highlights from my Yukon trip. My friend and I were booked for the The Ultimate Experience which includes landing on the icefield. Unfortunately the day of our flight the conditions weren't great but we decided to see go for a shorter flight without the landing. I'm so glad we still went for it. The views from the plane were incredible. I would definitely do this again.

Fantastic experience: Had a great experience with icefield discovery. Folks were nice and knowledgeable. Must do if you are near the area or just drive over from Whitehorse/haines. It was worth it for us. Icefield discovery has some trips that land on the glacier. Our group tried but it was sketchy (snowfall the previous day) so we bailed out. They charged us less because of that. They have a camp on the glacier during summer. You can probably hike upto that or get dropped there and do some hikes. Overall I had a great time, I will visit them again next time I am around there.

Fantastic experience: It's an amazing experience for lifetime. We took a journey in last week. I couldn't believe if it was not a personal experience. Four of our family took the glacier field and walked into the top of the world feelings.

Fantastic experience: We were able to sneak in a stunning ride in to an ice cap landing during a poor weather week and it did not disappoint! Throughout the uncertainty of the weather and the execution of our flight Shand and our pilot were exemplary in caring for our safety, the quality of our experience and our happiness. These guys carry the world’s mountaineers into the St. Elias range and, as a climber, I treasure this company’s experience and mountain knowledge. Thanks, Shand!

Fantastic experience: What an absolutely incredible experience. We took the Mount Logan up close tour, and the staff went out of their way to ensure we went on the right in our schedule, and it was absolutely perfect!! If you have never felt totally insignificant in your life, this tour is for you. And a special shout out to our Pilot and Guide Rafael, who knew that we were having so much fun he threw in an extra landing at the end.

Fantastic experience: My wife and I recently celebrated our 8th Wedding Anniversary on Canada Day, July 1st, 2020! The Ice Field Discovery company was absolutely amazing to work with. Everything from planning, the booking process, preflight orientation, landings, education provided on the landscapes during the flight was professionally delivered! Our pilot Flo took the time to help me get in and out of the plane (providing the step stool I needed), he took photos, and shared interesting information about the mountain ranges, glacier fields, and Mt. Logan (Canada’s Highest Mountain). What I really appreciated was that the staff didn’t treat us any differently because we were locals, we were treated as valued customers. I highly recommend Ice Field Discovery to local Yukoners or out of town tourists, and for people of all abilities! Ice Field Discovery will help make your once in a life time, memorable mountain experiences come true, and They will not disappoint! Fantastic experience: Cherry on the top of our trip to Yukon and NWT. Stunning. Awe-inspiring. I kept saying “wow” because I didn’t know what else to say. This is a must do on your trip. Flow was our pilot and he was knowledgeable and friendly.

Fantastic experience: Hands down the best experience we had in the Yukon! Tom was so knowledgeable of all the mountains and the area. He even made a point to show us the wildlife he saw as we explored the area. This is worth every penny and we cannot wait to come back again!

We landed in the middle of Kluane Park with perfect views of Mt Logan, Mt Vancouver and several others, and got a tour of the basecamp near Logan. We also got stunning views of the glaciers throughout the park as we flew in. We will never forget this part of our trip to the Yukon.

Fantastic experience: What an experience! We took the flight with a landing on the glacier with our 9-month-old baby and it was wonderful! Our pilot was experienced and very generous. He knew the glacier well and we felt very confident.
