Fantastic experience: Gentry was an amazing guide!

Fantastic experience: Had the perfect itinerary created by Mandy McArthur. We took our 10 year old son and went in March, which is the high season. We spent one day in Anchorage and 4 days in Fairbanks. We took the Aurora Winter train from Anchorage to Fairbanks. The train food was good, staff helpful, seats comfortable, and we saw lots of moose on the trip up. (no gold star in winter - too cold) We went ice fishing (fished in warm building and they cooked dinner for us with the fish we caught), to Chena hot springs (kids can only go in indoor pool), dog sledding (went for an hour - wish we had booked longer ride), and aurora viewing lodge. We booked snowmobile tour. 2hrs was long enough. We stayed at Wedgewood resort in an apartment (glad we were there instead of typical hotel). It was not fancy, but was spacious. Mandy switched from hotel for us when we requested at last minute. When we arrived at night by train we went to resort and had DoorDash bring us groceries for breakfast - so we cooked breakfast in full kitchen every day. Fairbanks has plenty of grocery stores and Uber. We highly recommend the Lemongrass Thai restaurant and Robot Pizza. We did get a rental car from National so we could go to ice sculpture exhibit and travel around town and outside Fairbanks. We have a list of things we are planning to do when we come back on our next trip: Aurora Photography tour; fly to arctic circle; learn to dog mush/sledding; more fishing. It was an awesome trip! We’ll go again.
