Vegan Vacations

Negative experience: I am in disbelief over how this company essentially took my money to book me an Air Canada vacation that I could have easily done myself. They offer no assistance once you've paid them and you're at the resort, they put everything on you to figure out. What is the point?! Everything started off right and I thought I was getting good information, but fundamentally there's a lack of understanding or perhaps a lack of caring towards the client actually getting a vacation they enjoy. I had very open ideas about where my family and I wanted to travel and I feel like we were taken advantage of when perhaps the company shouldn't have taken us on as clients if they couldn't meet our needs. I was sent to a very unsuitable resort where items were mislabeled as vegan, there were captive animals and people were allowed to feed them, and there were several greenwashing practices at the resort. The response below to my review is false information yet again, there were daily animal feedings and people feeding the "wild" animals in front of staff with no discipline. They took more time to try and make themselves look good in a google response than they did helping us, that's for sure. Every single person we encountered at the resort, including the Air Canada rep, were shocked to hear about us being vegan and booking at the resort, so to remind people you even went to the resort and still would send someone there says everything potential customers should know about avoiding this travel agency. The hotel they sent us to it turns out is one they have a business partnership with which I didn't realize before I booked, it seems very questionable that they chose the resort I went to since it's not a vegan resort, they lied about it having a vegan restaurant, and they were unwilling to offer any support, likely for fear of jeopardizing their relationship with the hotel. They also have no clue about family vacations - when I told them my children were going hungry and had nothing to eat, I was actually sent a link by them (yes, they didn't even bother to write a fulsome response but sent me links to up the views on their blog page) that essentially said, sit at the bar and wait for your special order food. I never received a response from them about the issues I was experiencing. Anyone with children can understand the frustration of not having food ready when it is needed. Kids can't sit at a bar and have a drink while they wait for their food..it's ridiculous. So, do a google search or use a Facebook group, don't hire a travel agency that claims to offer vegans support finding a good vacation, you will end up being disappointed.

Fantastic experience: Working with Jason McGregor from Vegan Vacations was a DREAM! He made planning my complicated itinerary a snap and was able to find ways to save me a good chunk of money! I'm so impressed with him, his dedication to making sure my trip is perfect and the speed in which he put everything together. Fantastic experience: Vegan Vacations is what we needed. It's difficult to navigate the all-inclusive resort landscape when you're vegan or plant-based because hotels rarely provide that level of detail online. Jason took the time to understand our needs and provided us with great options for our vacation. The booking process was simple and straightforward and Jason is kind and responsive. Fantastic experience: Jason and his team have been absolutely fantastic support for my travel - I highly recommend them. My husband and I have booked two trips through VV, and the second one ended up quite complicated, where we had to change a substantial amount of things close to (what felt like!) the last minute. Jason performed some herculean efforts making it all work for us, including giving us great options in a short turnaround. For the first trip, Jason's expertise in where we could eat vegan happily at all-inclusive resorts was absolutely crucial. I would recommend VV to anyone -- including our omnivore friends and family -- but I definitely suspect I won't be booking any major trips without Jason's help moving forward!

Fantastic experience: As a formal Travel Advisor (TA) myself, as I return to more regular travel again, I would never consider doing so without a TA of my own. As a vegan, it was an easy decision for me to pick to Jason out of all the great TAs I know. We started out with what should have been an “easy” all-inclusive booking but soon found out nothing is easy in the world of travel anymore. From start to (especially!) finish we needed more support than anticipated. Jason provided helpful information on which resorts would be the best choice for vegans. When we chose an alternative our own, Jason reached out in advance of departure to ensure all requests and preferences were clearly communicated. We were given details of whom to talk to about what if our diet wasn’t accommodated and other helpful info pre-departure. When things didn’t go smoothly after arrival despite this, Jason immediately took action. We were among the unlucky Sunwing passengers stranded in Cancun and immediately when our first flight got cancelled we reached out. Jason provided helpful support and guidance throughout the ordeal, and did what we could from his end despite it being holidays and days off for himself. Now that we returned he continues to be a liaison with Sunwing regarding refunds, etc. Without hesitation I can recommend Jason to all travellers, not just vegans. He has a loyal client in me based on this experience. Thank you Jason for all you did to support us!

Fantastic experience: Jason booked my family and I a terrific vacation. We wanted to stay pretty local, so we went to Kingston, Montreal and Ottawa. Jason did a fantastic job of finding us hotels that suited our family perfectly (especially the one in Montreal)! He also sent us some good ideas about places to visit and sights to see. We will be sure to call Jason next time we want to go on vacation. He's a pro and we are so appreciative of his expertise!

Fantastic experience: Jason at Vegan Vacations made the process of booking and organizing our vacation a breeze. Not only did we feel comfortable going through him, we had a great time in Mexico where almost every restaurant at the all-inclusive we stayed at accommodated my partner and I as two ethical vegans. We had a great time, and would definitely recommend other vegans to consider organizing their trip through him!
