Positive experience: Disappointed After Over a Decade of Loyalty to CAA I have been a Premier Member with CAA for over 10 years and have always trusted the organization to provide reliable service in times of need. Unfortunately, my recent experience on May 29th, 2025, has left me deeply disappointed. When my car broke down and I needed it towed to my residence, I contacted CAA as usual. The agent informed me there would be an overcharge because the distance was beyond their coverage. I was surprised, as I believed my destination was within range—or at least it had been previously. I politely asked the agent to double-check, suggesting that perhaps the coverage had changed. He abruptly replied, “I don’t think so,” and cited his eight years of experience with the company. He also stated that the overcharge had to be paid in cash directly to the tow truck driver before the vehicle would be loaded. This posed a real problem for me, as I was working at a site with no ATM nearby and did not have cash on hand. I asked politely if he could waive the charge or at least check with a supervisor. He responded in an annoyed tone, saying, “We don’t do that.” Then came the most disturbing part of the call: the agent told me, “I see here you’ve been taking advantage of the service and getting a tow every year,” and proceeded to list my past tows from the last few years. I reminded him that as a Premier Member, I am entitled to five tows per year—and using one tow annually is well within that allowance. Feeling disrespected, I later called to file a complaint with a supervisor. To my disappointment, she refused to comment on the appropriateness of the agent’s remarks, saying she couldn’t speak to someone else’s opinion. When I asked if she believed I was taking advantage, she avoided the question. I then asked if I would receive a ticket number or a follow-up—she told me there was no ticketing system and she was not obligated to call me back. As a long-time customer, I expected better. The lack of respect, transparency, and accountability in this interaction was unacceptable. I sincerely hope CAA reflects on how loyal members are treated, especially in moments when they need support the most.
Positive experience: I would give CAA a 5 star if rating only the customer service for their customer service Representatives. I am rating this three stars only because of their LACK hours of service. (Mon- Fri 09:00- 17:00) Anyone who works for a living Monday to Friday are simply unable to utilize the store as they open up after people go to work and close up before people get off work.
Negative experience: It’s great until you try and cancel, then you realize it’s a scam. It’s cheaper not to use them.
Negative experience: Takes much to long to get a call back. I'm sure they aren't as busy as they state. I guess they don't have anyone answering for the whole office anymore. Poor customer service.

Negative experience: What a horrible company. I was paying $1648 a year and out of nowhere they increased my insurance to $3879. Reasoning, they classified my vehicle as a high risk theft vehicle. Give me a break, it’s a 4Runner. I spoke with Ryan on the phone, super rude and wouldn’t let me talk to his supervisor and hung up on me. I will never deal with CAA insurance ever again. Bunch of crooks.

Negative experience: I'm not happy with their cancellation policy. Locked in for most of the year in an constantly increasing overpriced membership if you cancel after the 30 days. No pro rating the fee even though I no longer need the service. Thumbs down for locking me in.

Fantastic experience: First, I am a member but of a branch on the south. However after 4 hours on the road i needed a pit stop. They were friendly and said their bathroon was open to the public. (At my age you kinda dread going to a fast food restaurant for this type of visit). The bathroom was clean and sanitary. Regardless, before I left the store I realized that since I'm a new member, maybe there would be the new member gift available. Well long story short, the manager said I'd have to go to my local club branch and directly speak to them. However the travel agent was so nice and knowledable I thought, hey I might as well book a tour. But she was professional and suggested I go to my home branch agent.(Its great to see people not undercutting others especially since it makes practical sense to go to my local branch. She gave me a great magazine about the place we want to visit. This is a great place,the staff is friendly and honest. And I would recommend booking your next vacation through them and for sure, joining if you do any driving at all for peace of mind. The agents' name was Tara-Lynn. (No,I don't know her, but my wife an I would book a trip of a lifetime with her any day at this branch. If we weren't 400km away. One last thing, a couple years ago we were forced to evacuate our home, CAA insurance covered it all.

Fantastic experience: Debbie Gilbert and her staff were able to expedite our requests IDP within days of our request. We do not live in Sudbury and so we were at the mercy of the mail. Once they received our documentation, it was processed and sent out within hours. Debbie Gilbert was very accommodating and she was able to allay our concerns with humour and professionalism. I highly recommend the Sudbury office of CAA.

Negative experience: I was happy with CAA Auto Insurance until I got t-boned by a poor driver January 2nd & learned how uncommunicative CAA Adjuster staff are. Their secretarial person (Ralf) led me astray for over a week about having my car towed to Collision Centre (so I couldn't file police report - which he insisted didn'tneed to be done). Then, 2 weeks ago, he referred me to the actual adjuster who has yet to contact me or return my phone messages, so I am not certain if my car is fixable. Meantime, even Ralf does not answer my voice-mail messages & my car rental allotment ran out Friday. I am now completely disgusted & have contacted a lawyer

I must retract my negative review of C.A.A Sudbury. I received a follow up from Debbie of the local office. She graciously rectified my issue. Fantastic experience: Had a flat tire and Paul came today change it to my spare this morning. Not only did he do a great job but he patiently answered all of my questions and showed me how to use my own tools to change a flat (I wanted to learn how). Paul is amazing and I'm so grateful for the extra time he spent teaching while doing his own work. 10/10 service!

Negative experience: The customer service here sucks! Walked in and waited forever to even be acknowledged. One actual travel agent on duty who was busy and no one else working there could help us. We were looking for some info on booking a family trip. No pamphlets, no info given, just dirty looks and poor customer service. They don’t want your business! You’re better off booking with Costco travel or doing what we did: went home and booked it ourselves and saved money! Their loss!

Negative experience: We showed up here just looking for some info to begin shopping for a trip. They said they had no travel agents available and to book an appt for Jan 2 it felt like they had no time for us and we are now going to enjoy travel in the south end. They were happy to have us.

First she tried to boost my vehicle with no success then very efficiently organized the tilt and load got it attached and off we went. Negative experience: Horrible customer service at CAA Sudbury location. I booked an appointment with a travel agent to book a trip. The agent cancelled the appointment the day of and gave me her number to reschedule. I called her back several times, left numerous of voicemails, and left an in person message with the other agent on site. After 2 days of trying to reach a CAA agent, I decided that I did not want to book with CAA . If an agent is this hard to reach when trying to book a trip, just imagine how hard it would be to reach them if a problem were to arise while abroad. I ended up booking with another agent in the area and spent $200 more on travel insurance than what I would of at CAA as a member.

Negative experience: WELL DESERVER 1 STAR ! Went to CAA, they told me, no we don't have anyone to help you with car insurance, but we can schedule someone to call you tomorrow. Tomorrow comes, nobody calls me. I call CAA Sudbury, no body pick-up, robot says that "WE ARE WORKING REMOTELY". Trying CAA PHONE DIRECTORY, 5 numbers, NOBODY PICKS UP. Me as a potential new client, DISSAPOINTED! If you guys cannot get in contact and help potential new client, how do you deal offering support to current clients? I imagine the quality of "SUPPORT" you offer.

Negative experience: Would never recommend, even to my worst enemy 0/5 A money-grab corporation. CAA is the biggest rip-off, it’s costly and a waste of your time. CAA is just a middleman for towing companies. CAA does not save you money, the discounts are a marketing technique to entice you to spend *significantly* more than you otherwise would have. 1) you spend money on CAA when you are better off getting a tow and 2) the discounts at other stores are only a perceived benefit as you are spending money that would not have if you didn’t have the discount. So disgusted and appalled with the service I received this morning from C******** and her supervisor in the Sudbury region refusing to give me service. Thank you for absolutely nothing. This review is not a reflection of the quality of service of the towing companies that CAA provides bit of CAA itself.

Negative experience: Honestly, unless you have an old car don’t bother with a CCA membership. I am so disappointed in this office. I called this place to have my car towed from a dealership to my mechanics. Even though my membership included 5 or 6 tows the sales rep and the supervisor denied giving my car a second tow. Claiming that they only provide one tow per breakdown. Even though I told them the work couldn’t be completed at the dealership they still denied me the tow. They then told me they wanted to call the dealership to verify the information I had said to them, treating me like a liar. They still wouldn’t help when I told them I was alone at home with my kids. They told me I had to hire an outside tow. I should be able to use the tows included in my membership on whatever I want. Such bad service.
Fantastic experience: I like CAA. They have saved my backside a number of times- well worth the fee. Recently went into the Sudbury office to ask about family coverage. The woman who assisted me there was incredibly friendly, polite and helpful. My overall experience with CAA over the years has been nothing but positive. So, yeah, 5 stars.

Fantastic experience: Amazing quick service! First big snowfall of the year. Naturally I hit a patch of black ice and ended up in the ditch (no damage) and they were on site and had me pulled out in under 20 minutes! Very friendly and stayed with me on the phone while I was panicked. 10/10 would recommend CAA to anyone I know that drives!

Negative experience: I had a flat tire on my vehicle when I came out from shopping. I contacted CAA and they said about 30 to 45 min. This was a Sunday evening at 8:15 pm. I had to wait until 10:15 pm until the tow truck got there. I was in a parking lot all that time waiting. I'm not impressed with the service. It took another 45 min at least for the driver to change the tire. The driver was great but I was not impressed with the service from CAA.

Negative experience: Its nice to talk to someone who has a bit of knowledge for trips. Overall though, its not worth it. Use Kayak or Expedia to plan international trips. The agent although did not explain our seating on an international flight too well, which was a bummer. Not worth the fee ($45 per person) to book with them.

Fantastic experience: We broke down late Monday, May 21st on a dangerous curve between St Charles, Ontario and Noelville. The driver of the towing caa truck was named Paulo from Day N'Nite Towing stationed in Alban, Ontario. This man was the most wonderful guy, he kept us safe directing traffic, was patient, understanding and calming to my husband, myself and our aging black lab. He was so courteous and accomodating. The drive was almost 2 hrs, and he was so pleasant, cheerful and professional. His vehicle was immaculate, comfortable and a relaxing experience. You couldn't ask for a better person. We were in good hands. He is an asset to CAA and made our experience much easier on us by his fantastic attitude. We commend him.
