Negative experience: Total indifference from customer service. Trip to Austria. We are aware that some issues, unforeseen, can arise during a trip. What is disheartening here is the complete indifference of customer service although they want to pretend otherwise. We had a problem with the air conditioning of the bus, in some hotels (obviously in the hotels that had it. I specify this because in a response from customer service we were told that in Europe, it is not uncommon to not have air conditioning) and finally a completely dreadful room. Customer service response: 'the photos received unfortunately do not mention which hotel is in question' which is false. At their request, the name of the hotel was specified to them and in our evaluations (one in Austria and one at their request upon our return), we rated this hotel as dreadful. In short, apart from false claims, we are really sorry, our satisfaction is important to us... it is total indifference. Avoid as a travel agency.

Feedback from our travelers is essential to adjust certain services as needed and thus maintain the quality of products and service at Tours Chanteclerc. We regret not having received it from you, as it would have allowed us to better understand your experience regarding the different services during this trip. We have taken note of your dissatisfaction with certain hotels in the circuit and we sincerely apologize for this. The photos received do not specify which hotel it is, but they do not reflect the quality standards that we maintain for our establishments. We understand your concerns and carefully review our customers' feedback to improve our hotel selection. Regarding air conditioning, it is common in Europe for hotels not to be equipped with it, unlike North America. We take your remarks on this matter into consideration. As for the air conditioning problem on the coach, we regret the discomfort caused by the heat. Although the temperature dropped afterward, we acknowledge that a quicker repair would have been necessary. Rest assured that we have informed our supplier to avoid any recurrence and ensure the comfort of our passengers. Positive experience: The beauties of Italy The title of the trip 'The beauties of Italy' lives up to its name! You will see the most beautiful corners of Italy in 15 days! Being accompanied by a guide adds value to this trip and the sites visited! But expect to spend a lot of time on the bus, up to 400 km/day! Be aware that there are no toilets on the bus; 'hydraulic' breaks are offered every 1.5 hours. The meals included in the package are prepared and served at the hotel where you sleep. A huge disappointment for dinners and lunches to say the least 'inedible'. More specifically, canned fruit salad was served to us as dessert and at lunch; no fresh fruit on the menu! Also, a warning to people with food allergies as no special attention is given to you (except for the last meal of the trip). You must ask each meal and trust. Fortunately, in the restaurants everything is well indicated and you eat very well there. The hotels are three stars and far from the visited sites; which causes a lot of travel by bus not to mention the delays caused by traffic. The rooms are modest but clean. You need to plan to pay 15 Euros to enjoy the SPA or the pool at the hotel! The staff is welcoming! The excursions offered are worth the cost! You need to plan to bring cash to pay for access to public toilets, which mostly do not have a toilet seat! Also, some restaurateurs asked us to pay cash when they offered a group price. We lament the size of the group, which is 44 people! You need to show great adaptability and patience! 44 people getting off the bus for a bathroom break and ordering a meal eats into the time! Also, a briefing on the rules of life on the bus would have been appreciated upon our arrival (mask wearing during coughs, people dealing with motion sickness, seat management, etc.). Good guide and good driver throughout the trip!

Positive experience: My husband and I took a 21-day tour in Vietnam offered by Tours Chanteclerc. We were extremely disappointed with everything that was mentioned in the brochure versus what was actually offered. For the meals, there were a lot of issues; we were served the same breakfast dishes reheated multiple times for dinner. Some sites for which we paid were not available either because the location was closed or only men aged 18 and over were allowed to enter these places according to their customs. We were offered 2 bike rides twice, but half of the group did not ride a bicycle, so in the end, only half of the group did it. We went to the beach, but we were only given 45 minutes to swim. It’s ridiculous and disrespectful....... There are many negative things we could list, but the worst of all is the silence from Tours Chanteclerc, despite our first complaint being mentioned in the first week of the tour a total of 3 times. The wholesaler mentioned to us, 'Someone will contact you,' and so far, total silence. Great disappointment to see that we worked all year to save money for a trip and ended up with so many disappointments and dissatisfaction. We hope that a change can happen and that customer experiences will be taken seriously by Tours Chanteclerc, especially for a tour that cost about $12,000 for the two of us. However, I am correcting my review because we still had a deep affection for the scenery and the hotels. Sorry for omitting these details. Thank you

We are quite surprised, given that we have been operating this tour for several years with our local supplier in Vietnam and that this tour 'Magic of Vietnam' is our most popular and satisfactory among our clientele. Moreover, in the received comments, your three travel companions expressed their complete satisfaction with the trip and that all the negative points you listed were, on their part, very much appreciated. Our team was always in communication with you and your travel agent, both before the departure, among other things to assist you with your tourist visas, as well as in response to your communications during the trip. We have the emails to support this. It is therefore surprising to read your discontent on this matter, regarding our alleged lack of follow-up towards you. Negative experience: I come from Quebec. I paid $7,500 for a 12-day trip to Costa Rica (January 2024) to have an all-inclusive tour with a French-speaking guide. My initial guide fell ill and was replaced by someone who was not a guide and did not speak French well. He was visiting the places we were going to for the first time... I learned nothing about the places we visited due to his lack of knowledge and because he did not speak French well. The guide even lost one of his 12 clients who were with me on the tour. He slept on the bus and was often on video calls with his daughter. * Following complaints from someone with me in the group, several times a day (since day 1) at the agency, our guide was changed on the 9th day out of 12. This led to fights among us, as half agreed with this choice, and the other half had become friendly with our guide since, in 9 days, bonds were created despite his incompetence, which everyone agreed on. Then, the last meal was not included, and I was asked to pay for it. Next, the French-speaking driver provided by the agency from the airport to the hotel and from the hotel to the airport: for the outbound trip, he did not speak French. And for the return, I did not have a driver as mentioned; I had to arrange an emergency shuttle with the hotel. After explaining this to the company and asking for compensation, I received a $250 gift certificate to be used within 48 months at their own agency... ridiculous... even the compensation is mediocre. I come back extremely disappointed and I do not recommend this agency to anyone.

We know the importance of an experienced guide on a tour. Unfortunately, the guide initially scheduled for your tour had to be absent on the day of the group’s arrival due to health reasons. Our supplier then had to find a guide in an emergency. Being in high tourist season in Costa Rica, French-speaking guides are scarce. We are sorry that the replacement guide did not have the necessary knowledge and experience according to our quality standards. As soon as notified, our supplier found another available guide who managed to meet expectations. We also understand that the change of guide during the trip may have created tensions within the group, and we sincerely regret this situation. However, this new guide actually took the initiative to make complementary visits not included in our program to make up for the lack of information provided by the other guide. Regarding the issues related to the last meal not included and the driver services, we take note of your concerns and are committed to improving these aspects of our service in the future. Negative experience: Hello, I was in New York from November 30 to December 4, 2023. I enjoyed my trip to New York but did not like the French guide in New York. We asked to go to the Brooklyn Bridge and did not have time to go. Then we asked to go to the World Trade Center. I asked the guide for explanations as to why we didn't have time if it was still early in the afternoon. We pay to visit. Not satisfied with Chanteclerc tour service.
Negative experience: Bad experience with this tour operator. We did the England, Ireland, and Scotland tour from July 10, 2022, to July 25, 2022. This trip was the most unpleasant I've ever had in my life. A guide who had no experience with this kind of tour, unable to inform us adequately. A tour in French, she read us documents in English. We had a medical emergency... unable to help us??? She wasn't even present for the farewell dinner, and we had to manage on our own with the hotel. And what can I say about the unsanitary hotels we had? And the meals were 80% chicken and fish. And I could go on!!!!! Tours Chanteclerc never again. My partner and I are really disappointed.

Negative experience: Very bad experience with tour Chantecler, always last minute for the information and plus, upon returning from the trip, they are asking me for the option for the dinners because they claim we did not pay for them. This will be the last time with them.

Having booked an inside cabin, as indicated in the brochure, you had the choice of 2 options out of 4 regarding the benefits offered by Norwegian Cruise Line. Your travel advisor informed us last January that you wanted to confirm the beverage package as well as the internet package on board. Therefore, it is quite normal that the meals taken in the à la carte restaurants during your cruise aboard the Norwegian Jade, as well as the associated tips, were charged to you since you did not select this option. Moreover, several follow-ups had to be made with your travel agency to obtain answers regarding the benefits offered by Norwegian Cruise Line and the optional excursion package offered before departure. Furthermore, your travel documents were sent to your agency more than 2 weeks before departure. Negative experience: My in-laws traveled to Paris from Montreal with Tours Chanteclerc. After ensuring that the agency was taking care of the airport check-in, my in-laws still had to proceed with their check-in on their own once they arrived: almost no seats left on the plane, separate seats. Upon arriving in Paris, they were forgotten at the airport (one of their suitcases did not follow, they had to file a claim). Three other people, out of a total of 21, were also forgotten at the airport while the rest of the group left for the bus tour. The five forgotten had to make their own way to the hotel. These are elderly people who paid $5000 for their 9-day trip to Paris. Tours Chanteclerc seriously lacks professionalism, it’s more than deplorable. Avoid it, please.

We immediately contacted our provider at the destination when we received your father's message to rectify the situation swiftly. Please know that your parents have already received a refund for the taxi between the airport and the hotel, and as compensation, we offered them a Seine river cruise for two. Furthermore, as indicated in the documents given to your parents before their departure, a Tours Chanteclerc representative is present at Montreal airport. They could have assisted your parents with their check-in at the airline's counter if they had requested it. Additionally, it is stated in the Europe Circuits brochure for each of our circuits: Our airline contracts do not allow us to make seat selections at any time. Most of the time, travelers manage to select seats during pre-check-in or by arriving at the airline counter 3 hours or more before departure. However, it can sometimes happen that customers are not seated together. We invite your parents to fill out the quality control upon their return on our website in the client area tab, or to send us an email, so that we can send them the questionnaire by email. Positive experience: J'ai fais mes deux premiers voyages avec Tours Chanteclerc cette année. Les positifs: Il n'y a pas de guides sur place ou très rarement, juste un guide qui nous guide et nous decrit des choses dans l'autobus, pendant qu'on est assis confortablement, et on a le choix d'écouter ou non, donc pas de guides qui font du bla, bla pendant des heures debout au soleil et il ne reste plus de temps pour visiter, comme avec d'autres compagnie. Le point négatif: les repas qui ne sont pas compris. On perd énormement de temps à chercher des endroits pour manger et surtout comme en Allemagne, avec les menus en Allemand...J'étais brûlée de chercher des endroits pour manger. Je préfère la formule tout compris où tout le monde se rend a midi pile pour le lunch dans un endtoit reservé pour nous.

Negative experience: So far, I am not satisfied with my trip to Ireland. The schedules are not respected, there is no organization, and the guide is always looking in her notes. Not enough free time in the interesting cities. First and last organized trip for me!
Negative experience: The Magdalen Islands are very beautiful... but one must have found the time to see them at their true value. Regarding the organized trip itself, 50 people on the bus is way too many. I am aware that the pandemic has hurt the tourism industry and it needs to catch up on lost time, but a group of 25 people would have been much more pleasant and probably we would have had more time at the sites to visit. On the bus, no service tablet, the middle passage and the space between the rows of seats are way too narrow for the distance to be traveled. Really not comfortable. On the positive side, the hotel was nice, with a very beautiful view of the sea. The choice of restaurants was worth it. A big shoutout to the guides who worked very hard. In short, this was my first organized trip and probably the last one unfortunately.

Positive experience: Beauties of Italy from September 23 to October 7, 2019. We were a group of 24 people. Unfortunately, two people had an accident. Three people had to return to Quebec. Our guide Pietro was a good companion, but not very talkative. There were times when we would have liked to have more information. The choice of hotels was perfect with good service. A favorite for Capri, the San Michele villa in Anacapri. The Amalfi Coast should not be missed. The village of San Marino was another highlight. We appreciated less the traffic in Naples, my God, what is this traffic? The visit to Venice, nothing to say, it’s magical and a must-see. We took the gondola tour which should not be missed. In short, a very beautiful trip! Thank you Tours Chanteclerc and see you next time. Grand tour of Greece from May 20 to June 5, 2018. We had a wonderful trip with Tours Chanteclerc. Our guide Eugénia was a very good companion for this tour. The schedule and visits were undoubtedly very well planned. The comfort of the L'Océane company coach was greatly appreciated as well as its driver. We were a group of 40 people and everything went smoothly. Lots of fun and good times at the farewell dinner. Fantastic experience: Nous faisons affaires avec TC depuis des années et n'avons jamais été déçu. Bien entendu il a pu survenir certains inconvénients hors de leur contrôle mais il y eu réaction rapide de leur part. Même que dans notre cas nous venons d'avoir compensation. Negative experience: they do not respect their obligation they canceled our trip to Vancouver, organized trip because they could not comply with health guidelines but they refuse to refund the deposit it is them who canceled the trip not us they gave us a travel credit but I want my money, money does not grow on trees I do not recommend Tours Chanteclerc disrespectful, not there for their customers, refusal to comply with their part of the contract dishonest in bad faith

Negative experience: SO SAD...The anger and rudeness shown by the director, Mr. St.Pierre, shown to me when I respectfully asked him for a small favour (for which I would have generously compensated him for) was quite unbelievable....not only did he cut me off in the middle of my "presentation", he also threw me out, AND followed me down to the street to make sure I left! If this is how the Director General behaves, I can only imagine how his staff deals with their customers...SO SAD for Mr. St Pierre and anyone that has to deal with him!!!!!

As mentioned recently in various written communications, we were also sorry that you paid the fees for the reciprocity tax for your cruise in South America when this was not necessary. The information regarding entry requirements in our various brochures is provided for informational purposes only and may indeed be modified at any time by government authorities. However, the information provided regarding the reciprocity tax in our 2018 Cruise Brochure was valid at the time of its printing. The Argentine government eliminated the mandatory reciprocity tax for Canadian citizens at the end of 2017. This has been officially in effect since January 1, 2018. This information was updated during the issuance of your documents in early January. The most recent information regarding entry conditions (passport, visa, vaccination, etc.) is provided in the travel documents you receive 3 weeks before your departure date and as mentioned above, changes can always be made by government authorities without notice and up until the day of departure. Unfortunately, we have no control over these changes and we understand your disappointment regarding this matter. Given that you made the payment of this tax before the issuance of the documents, our customer service suggested that you contact the government authorities of Argentina to request a refund for it. Positive experience: We would like to thank 2 ladies at CAA Pointe-Claire very much for arranging our trip to China after Sinorama had financial problems. Our trip was passed on to Tour Chanteclerc who arranged everything with CAA Pointe-Claire, Montreal, Quebec. Our tour took place from September 8 till 23, 2018. Everything that we signed up for was excellent including the extra optional tours with .the original Sinorama package on the Gold 8 but we were later given the Gold 7 boat. On the boat, we were able to purchase another 3 optional tours that were also very good. All our meals during our trip were excellent either on the Gold 7 or on land. The one thing that really made our trip a memorable one is our tour guide Nicholas who spoke English very well and was quite cultured. Our group of 14 worked very well with Nicholas, everyone was always on time for the excursions and nobody ever got lost. The three negative aspects of our trip: 1) The dirty room on the Gold 7 boat that everyone had including ourselves. They offered to give us another room which would downgrade the bigger room we originally paid but it was just as disgustingly dirty. Example, dirty carpets they never shampoo and never a vacuum to be seen or heard. There was mould in the bathtub with very dirty yellowed shower curtains that are never washed, dirt under the sink at the base of the wall, dust all over our lamps and at the base of the lamps just below the light switches, rust on the ceiling speakers with dirty walls. Apart from this, our first impression was WOW, room big and spacious with a small balcony. Amazing service by waiters, although the tips were included we always tipped when it was deserved! We also had no idea that 99% of the people everywhere including airline staff, hotel staff, restaurants, on the Gold 7 or anywhere else do NOT speak English or French. Everyone in the group of 14 complained about the hygiene of the rooms. One room that was booked in the Imperial Suites was also growing mushrooms at the base of the big patio window just under the curtains. All this was reported to Nicholas (tour guide) and it was reported to the “boat administration” who also followed us to our room to look. They did offer to cleanup our room, but we refused, we told them this should have all been cleaned up before passengers arrive and take over the room. You can't clean rust and mould on the spot. 2) Before getting to Beijing airport, our tour guide Nicholas advised us to keep our “cell phone battery pack” on us and NOT in our checked-in luggage. However, at the Beijing airport for Xi'an to take our flight, Security pulled me over to confiscate my power bank because the power strength of the battery was not visible. I kept insisting with them that the power bank is very small and would not exceed the limit because it can only power my cell phone one time. We had them call our tour guide Nicholas to come see us at security only to find out that he was also being pulled over for his power bank because the strength is not visible. When they opened the stitching of my power bank (it is attached to my purse) they were still not able to see anything written so they said I would not be able to pass. I then pulled it apart to show them ,but doing so, my power bank broke. After, they saw that the strength was visible at 2500MAH they said “OK you can keep it and pass”. It is now too late because it is broken :( :( :( 3) There is NO social media available in China. Example: NO Google and NO Facebook. Just to let you know that when we left Montreal 8th September 2018 my little purse that holds my power bank was in my luggage and made it all the way to Beijing with no issues. Negative experience: We have just returned from a twelve-day cruise in the Mediterranean organized by Tour Chanteclerc. In total, the trip lasted seventeen days with a French-speaking guide. During one of our visits, specifically in Rome, we were told and it is written in the tour description that we would visit the Vatican and the Colosseum in Rome, and it was pure lies. We only saw the Colosseum from the outside and we did not go to the Vatican at all under the pretext that there was a terrorist threat, which was pure lies because those who had booked the tour with the boat went there. So we are extremely frustrated to have been taken advantage of in this way. Be sure that this will have consequences. Tour Chanteclerc is not reliable.

During guided tours, such as the one you took in Rome, we mention the important monuments that you will see during it. To access the inside of the site or monument for visiting, we clearly mention the word 'entry' in the itinerary description or in the description of the optional excursions we offer as part of our cruise departures to avoid this type of misunderstanding. Furthermore, we would also like to specify that all passengers in this group who purchased the optional excursion in Rome were compensated and received a refund upon their return from the trip since the visit to the Vatican was not possible. Travelers who took this excursion were still able to enjoy the panoramic guided tour of Rome, including the services of your accompanying guide, the local guide, the bus transport from the port to the center of Rome, the bus driver, and lunch. We are sorry to hear that an optional excursion overshadowed your 16-day trip and hope, Mr. Messier, that you still have good memories of Spain, Italy, Croatia, and Greece.
