Fantastic experience: We did the Grand Tour of Italy in October 2019 (before Covid). It was amazing from the moment the driver picked us up at our front door and took us to the airport for our flight where we were met by SDT representative who ensured all was in order for our overnight flight to Milan. Our tour director was amazing as was our driver. Our days were busy with plenty of walking and we saw all the key sites in Italy from top to bottom. The food and accommodations were excellent. Our director was a terrific lecturer and he made the bus/road portions of our trip fun, and truly informative. We f learned a great deal about Italy and the many regions and customs. We highly recommend the Grand Tour of Italy to anyone who really wants to know that unique and beautiful county.

Fantastic experience: Spring in Tuscany Stay-Put: This was the 1st time we have chosen a "Stay-Put" tour. Expectations met. Salvatore (Sal) Buccellato, Tour Director, aptly handled the administrative functions well including assisting a couple of guests to maneuver the medical system. His photography was a bonus. The experiences (included/optional/free day) were informative as tour guides and local guides enhanced experiences by sharing their knowledge and experiences. The "whisper's" were a god-send. Accommodation was very nice-unpack, stay-put to relax during off hours made for relaxed daily excursions. The food and beverages at the hotel and wherever else we ate were region appropriate. Fantastic experience: I recently returned from an amazing trip to South Africa. I saw lots of animals: lions, hippos, elephants, zebras, giraffes, antelope, wild dogs, buffalo, monkeys, crocodiles. This was my main reason for going. What I didn't expect was the great restaurants, accommodations, roads, people, buses, gift shops, South African tour guides (Juanita & Peter) and the Senior Discovery tour guide (Blair Strocher). If I ever take another trip it will be with Senior Discovery Tours. It was well worth the money. I have been on a high since returning a few weeks ago.

Negative experience: Went on 2 trips with them. First trip to Canada west coast the tour manager made some rude comments to guests and the bus driver was very pushy and very rude to me and my friend but decided to give a second chance. 2nd trip to Italy with new staff I found the staff greeting us at the airport were very pushy and bossy, the bus driver in Italy was a very good guy but the tour manager was very nasty to us and very unattentive to the guests on the tour, and forgetting to do things he said he would do. When I complained to staff back in Toronto they didnt seem to care much, so needless to say I will never go with Senior Discovery Tours again. I've since found much better and friendlier staff with other tour companies I've gone with.

Fantastic experience: Just got back from the trip to Cape Cod, it was a great trip our tour manager was Harriet, great lady lovely, I love Seniors have travelled with them lots of times, never been disappointed. I would highly recommend them.

Positive experience: I went to Cape Cod with Harriet as the tour director and Anthony as our driver, both were fabulous and I would like to travel with them again. I was disappointed with both hotels, in terms of location and also quality.

Positive experience: There was a group of 4 of us who just returned from 28 days in the Costa del Sol, Spain. Overall, I would have rated the trip as a solid 5, however, the flights we had to endure were horrible. The location, design and staff of the Hotel Ocean House were excellent. The excursions were very good and covered a good part of southern Spain. The food in the dining room was mediocre and rarely was hot. After 28 days it became quite tiresome. There was a good selection and the wine and beer at lunch and dinner was a nice touch. When there were lots of people in the dining room, the noise level was almost intolerable. The chairs literally screeched when moved on the hard flooring. I found that very disturbing. Same held true for the lounge on the main floor. Rooms were very spacious and the addition of a sitting room to the bedroom gave more than enough space. The bathroom was large, with a walk-in shower, however I found the base very slippery and there were no grab bars. The balcony was a nice feature. Getting one of the ''sunny side'' would have been even better. Unfortunately, the elevator that lead down to the dining room was out of service for a week, making it difficult for any senior with mobility issues. The multiple stairs leading down to the boardwalk also presented a difficulty for some the group. Now for the bad news. We flew Toronto to Heathrow. Then we had to wait for almost 3 hours for the flight from Montreal to arrive. Once the 9 people from Montreal arrived, we were transferred to Gatwick airport on a bus, all the while having to manage our luggage. Then a flight from Gatwick to Malaga which was about 2.5 hours. By the time we were bussed to Torremolinos and checked into the hotel, close to 25 hours had passed. People were very tired and complaining and rightly so. On our return home flights, we flew Malaga to Heathrow with an overnight in London. Dinner and breakfast were included. I don't understand why better flights weren't available since the additional cost of the hotel and meals would more than make up for more better flights. That is my biggest complaint about SDT. I would definitely recommend anyone to go with SDT in the future.

Fantastic experience: I was o n the tour to Portugal Feb 23 to March 10 2024. Our guide Aimee Chada was wonderful and took very good care of all of us. The guides in both places were very friendly and had great deal of knowledge of the areas we visited. Aimee was always there for any questions and made sure we all had a very good time and were safe and enjoyed all our fellow travelers. Susan Armstrong

Fantastic experience: My husband and I took our fifth SDT trip to Barbados January 25-February 8, 2024 with Bethany Laughton. I cannot say enough about this tour director, her charm, knowledge and care for us all. And she was a lot of fun to be with! *****+

Fantastic experience: We have been on 5 tours with SDT. We are very pleased with all of them. We enjoy the stress free travel, from beginning to end. SDT has allowed us to travel places on our bucket list, make new friends, and see sights we would never have done on our own. We have done the Grand Tour of Italy, our first and most impressive. London Paris and Amsterdam, Victoria BC, New York City, and Bonnie Scotland . Sure, there were a few things they could have done better, but we enjoyed ourselves and will definitely travel with them again.

Fantastic experience: I arrived last night from the Martinique & Guadeloupe Tour 2024. Our guide Mylène Boetsch spread her wings! Know-how is her business! We owe her the success of this trip! Our drivers only added to our happiness and safety. Jean, our guide in Guadeloupe, showed us his storytelling talent and delighted us with his choice of music. Fantastic experience: Had a wonderful time on our 20 day trip to Costa del Sol. Barbara Barde was a wonderful tour guide and was very knowledgeable and helpful to our group of 7 and went out of her way to helping us enjoy the experience. The only thing I have to complain about as seniors we need more help with luggage at the airports and found the whole day trips were too tiring enjoyed the 1/2 day trips much more as had free time to sit in the sun relax and discover things on your own. The Ocean hotel was wonderful and the food was just great as well as the staff. I would recommend this trip.

Positive experience: I was on the same tour with Ann and I completely disagree with her positive review of our tour manager. I have traveled alot and IMO the tour manager lacked the basic customer service, personal and communication skills one would expect from someone in her position. She offered little to no commentary and explanation along the way and even derided an excellent guide (Patricia) for doing so ,once she was gone, "for doing too much talking". She was also apparently involved in a number of conflicts second guessing our highly professional driver resulting in at least one huge parking ticket, probably paid for out of saved entrance fees.Also, contrary to review below, the guide actually skipped destinations set out on the itinerary for dubious reasons, apparently at her convenience on a moments notice and at her sole discretiion.I called midtrip and left a message complaining to the company about the guide'sbehaviour but I never heard back from them, although a rep there promised someone would get back to me. To top this off the tour manager left a paper containing my personal , confidential health information on a table accessible to all, at the farewell dinner.There was no request for feedback or other customer satisfaction surveys distributed after the tour so it is clear that in fact the tour company did not investigate or take my complaint "seriously " in the least. Had someone at least called me back to follow up, as promised, I might have not felt so inclined to post this review.

Positive experience: This was our eighth trip with Senior Discovery tours (Italian Riviera and Tuscany), and the last two, since the pandemic, have been disappointing. From long airport layovers in Paris, to hotels that are not first-class, to too many so-so dinners in these hotels, to excursions that are long and tiring for seniors, my husband and I feel that the quality of this company's tours have slipped. Negative experience: France (Paris, Avignon, Nice) We have been on numerous tours in the USA, Australia, Europe and Great Britain with other tour companies. The France tour with SDT was inadequately planned and managed. We went with SDT because many friends had great success with them, but sadly not us. Issues -Tour guide was extremely unorganized. No French language skills. No way to communicate with her except face-to-face. - On arrival in Paris no-one to lead us through the maze to baggage. - TOTAL confusion in boarding the train for Avignon -- no assigned seating, a miracle no-one was left behind. - Tour guide did leave a tour member at one bus stop - incredible! - Sceduled dinners did not feature French cuisine to our satisfaction. No choice of entree. - One sceduled dinner was at a restaurant that was totally unprepared and the meal was pathetic. Many of us left and bought our own dinner. Doesn't SDT pre-check these places? - Tour guide could not find our scheduled restaurant another night - After some meals, no organized transportation back to the hotel. Sure some folks can walk but remember this is a 'seniors tour and we're in a foreign country/city and have had some alcohol! - Only the first hotel in Paris was of the quality we expected. The rest, barely met 3 star rating. All-in-all, we really enjoyed the various places we visited. SDT just didn't do the things they should have to make the tour extra special.

Negative experience: I’ve been on many tours and this has to be the worst . It look fantastic on the preview but what it doesn’t say is that you are in one hotel. For all your meals Breakfast , lunch and dinner buffet style ,And it’s not very good. I’m in Spain I should be getting tapas and Spanish food. And the hotel is packed you can hardly move. I would not recommend this to anyone. Buffet are not such a good idea, with hundreds of people touching the same serving utensils, it’s not healthy and can spread Covid. I don’t think this company cares much about your health. If this kind of dining is OK with them.

Negative experience: I called the 1 800 number to ask about the Scottish Highland rail and sail tour. The first person I spoke to admitted to being new, and knowing little about the tour. The second person I spoke to seemed intent on discouraging my wife and I highlighting all the negative sides of the trip with special emphasis on the length of days, the late meals, the fact that there were no elevators in the hotels, etc. Despite the fact that I identified the trip she seemed to have no knowledge of the the one hotel where in the 16 day trip you stay for 10 of the days. I also asked if my Air Transit seats could be upgraded. The answer was that I would have to do that myself. Suggesting that I would like to talk to someone on Sat. at the Toronto office I was informed that the location was closed on Saturdays, Later in the day I called again speaking to someone who was a long time employee and very pleasant. When I inquired if I could talk to someone who actually was familiar with the tour I was informed that it was new with only two previous departures. The response was that it was run by another company and it would be impossible to talk to anyone who knew the trip. Even though this 16 day trip spent 10 days at one location it was clear that information about the particular spot was not available. It was also clear that that the degree of fitness described was the regular information given related to European trips and not to this one in particular. This details regarding the strenuous nature of this particular trip were not supported by the company's brochure. It is very unfortunate as this looks like a very interesting journey.

Positive experience: I recently went on my third trip with Senior Discovery Tours to the Maritimes. I really enjoyed the trip . . . from the beginning to the end. . . Our tour guide, Barbara Barde worked hard at ensuring that we were organized and saw everything. Fantastic!

Positive experience: Really enjoyed the trip to Greece. Sandra Wood, our tour director was professional, friendly, caring and fun! I found the local tour guides in Athens were very passionate about the history and archeology of the sites, but it was very in depth and too detailed, a lot to absorb. They did not read their audience well as most were overwhelmed and very tired. A simple, interesting and abbrieviated version of the ruin sites would have made it more enjoyable. Days were very long and tiring in Athens. The island of Crete was my favourite, Santorini and Mykanos were lovely. Hotels were superior. Food was excellent throughout. I have travelled with Senior Discovery Tours at least 6 times previously. Just returned from Canary Island's trip this year before heading on the Greek adventure. My very favourite was the first one I took ... South Africa ... but I was 10 years younger then!

Fantastic experience: The Dubai/Persian Gulf Cruise was our first tour/experience with SDT. SDT did not disappoint us. SDT was recommended by a friend who travelled with the company. We were 3 couples (20 travelers in total on the tour); our group of 6 all agreed the tour was far beyond expectations. From the arrival at the airport, accommodation, meals, tour manager, tour guide, tour bus/driver ALL excellent. Our tour manager, Ruby, was amazing. She was always available to ensure all services as advertised were delivered and kept the group up to date on our itinerary, times of pick-up etc. Ruby made herself available to respond to any questions on the accommodation, tours, etc. It was a pleasure to be in her company both professionally and “off-duty”. Our tour guide in Dubai, Faheem, was very courteous, punctual, accommodating, deeply knowledgeable on the history, culture, architecture, etc. of Dubai and the UAE. He has a good command of English and spoke in a polite and confident manner. There are average tour guides, and there are guides you remember forever, Faheem falls in the latter category. The Costa Toscana cruise of the tour was also very well organized (check-in/check-out), group dinners, cocktail night organized by Ruby on the ship etc. Again, Ruby was present to ensure the group had an enjoyable time and memorable experience. The Entertainment on this ship was fantastic and enjoyable; excellent variety for all age groups. We understand SDT have no control regarding service on Air Canada flights, maybe other airlines should/could be considered for this destination/future tours.

Fantastic experience: I called Senior Discovery Tours to inquire about a tour for my parents as I wanted to get them a special anniversary gift for their 50th this year. They havent travelled much in the past so I felt more comfortable getting them a guided tour. I told them my dad had a hip replacement last year and they were super understanding and helpful. The agent was very nice and recommended a less active tour and gave a few options. I think I'm going to go with the Norwegian cruise and I think they will love it. I can't thank this company enough for being so nice and helpful!

Fantastic experience: There were 16 of us travelled to the Holy Land on 14 Nov- 17 Nov with Sandra Wood, our Tour Manager. It was trip of a lifetime for me making this journey on behalf of my late husband. Sandra was awesome as a manager, calm and caring. Nothing was too much for her to handle on our behalf. Gil, our Tour guide in Israel was very informative and worked well with Sandra in all aspect of our tour. He is a great guy and got us hooked eating the fat juicy dates, practically on a daily basis!! The group got on very well and we had lots of fun and laughter especially at our evening meal times. Swimming in the Dead Sea was exhilarating!! Lots of history learned on this tour. In my opinion, the single supplement at $2,290.00 was too much for a single person. However, I enjoyed my trip as it is filled with great memories and friendship made within the group. Sandra, you are a good person. Hopefully, will crossed path again with future tours. I have rebooked tour for Spain and Portugal for March 1-21 as the earlier dates were cancelled. Too bad I will not make it for Greece in April. Wishing you and your family A Merry Christmas. Fantastic experience: My husband and I have traveled many times with Senior Discovery Tours and have always had an excellent time. We've been to China,Hongkong Romania, Bulgaria different cruise tours, Croatia, Spain , Portugal and Newfoundland New York.

Positive experience: Covid has had a drastic effect on the travel industry. Our experience in early 2020 with two tour operators (SDT and rocky mountaineer) demonstrates how well they responded to cancellations. We cancelled our trip with SDT 4 weeks before the scheduled departure and received most of our funds. We cancelled our trip with Rocky 5 months prior to departure and lost 50% of the deposit (check out user postings for verification). In our situation timing obviously made all the difference. We will be using SDT when conditions allow. Rocky on the other hand not in our life time.

Fantastic experience: I have traveled with this company three times. The whole package from home pick-up to fabulous meals and tours is certainly worth it. I also like that they offer some tours where you stay put for a week or two and do day trips.

Negative experience: I would not recommend this service. I dealt exclusively with Tikva when planning my vacation a few months ago but opted out because of her unprofessional, rude attitude. Not sure how she was hired to deal with seniors! Not a good look for the company. A couple of my friends had said the same thing. This is a great idea for a service, I just really wish you had better reps to represent you!

Negative experience: Socially irresponsible, refusing to refund old folks who's lives would be in danger due to travel during an epidemic. Behaviour like this poses not only a threat to the lives of their clients but a threat to Canadian society. Shameful.

Negative experience: Just read they won't offer even partial refund to seniors amid this global health crisis. Clearly they don't care about senior wellbeing. I would advise people against using this company.

Fantastic experience: Our experience with Senior Discovery Tours was fantastic from start to finish. Our Tour Manager, Patrick Caria, went above and beyond at every turn. He was experienced and knowledgeable, patient and informative. The tour itself was well designed and as advertised. We feel we were treated very well, learned and saw so much of Italy, and that we got great value for our money. We will definitely consider traveling with Senior Discovery Tours on our next adventure.

Negative experience: I paid $8,200.00 for their China/Yangtze River trip with a tour manager who could not speak Chinese, who had never visited many of the locations, a number of bypassed historic sites, a dangerous nighttime trek to the MV President Prime ship, a cabin up-selling scam once on board and, a tour scheduled during two Chinese holiday travel crushes. Pathetic. An amateur operation profiting off older travelers. Never again with Senior Tours Canada Inc.
