Fantastic experience: I had an excellent experience traveling Colombia on Intrepid's "Cafe Colombia" tour. All accommodations within the country (hotels, travel) were taken care of, and my tour leader, Daniela, was fantastic. The tour took us to Bogota, Salento, Medellin and Cartagena, and was an excellent mix of city life and natural attractions. I was able to explore all of the tourist attractions, such as Monserrat and Cocora Valley, as well as take part in local attractions such as a game of Tejo and local restaurants. Our tour group was also given time to explore each city independently. As a non-Spanish speaker, Daniela was especially helpful and assisted me whenever I needed help. I was able to experience a new culture and enjoy myself, and felt safe and stress free throughout the tour.

Fantastic experience: i would highly recommend Intrepid Travel. I liked traveling with a small group. Everyone was very friendly and very interesting. Our guide was exceptional. He was very knowledgeable about the plants, history and culture of the Amalfi Coast. The views on our trip were amazing. The hiking was challenging, but also rewarding. The accommodations were excellent.

Fantastic experience: Morocco adventure: I went on an incredible journey to visit another country I would have never felt comfortable to go as a single non-intrepid female. However, with the guidance from the insightful tour guide and his safe driver at his side, I experienced Morocco with nine new friends from all over the world. Part of the experience included being welcomed into several homes for meals, exposed to family made cuisine and household traditions based on the necessity to provide nutrition, safe environment, and most important, family unity. Our tour guide provided answers to all the questions I pondered as I viewed this new place. About a week after I returned, I visited one of my favorite thrift stores. I noticed a young couple with a child in a stroller. The mother had a beautiful scarf on, like the ones I saw adorned on many in Morocco. I realized I felt different about seeing a woman with a head scarf now that I was back home. A head scarf no longer represented to me some sort of societal obligation. Clearly a lack intelligence on my part. I challenged myself to talk to them. I got right to the point. I talked at least five minutes, starting with her beautiful scarf and lead into my recent trip to Morocco. They smiled continually and patiently listen to me. I finally asked them where they were from. Yes, Morocco. Now I was stumped. The world is such a big place. How could events seem so randomly connected? Yes, I plan on going to another place that I will feel uncomfortable, so I can “feel” the barriers I set, internally disappear and are replaced with understanding and acceptance. The world is an adventure waiting for everyone. Thank goodness for the company “Intrepid” to help reduce the reasons why many choose not to travel to places with “unknown” comforts.

Fantastic experience: We had a great cycle tour. The tour guides were very experienced and knew the country well. Importantly, they focused on the safety of the cyclists. The country is beautiful and we saw and entered into many beautiful monasteries and churches. The meals were excellent throughout the tour. The cyclists themselves were very nice people and quickly got to know each other. The cyclists looked out for one another.

Fantastic experience: Intrepid Morocco uncovered Tour leader Jamal Kassi I travelled with my mother (77 years old) to Morocco with Intrepid. Our trip was amazing. First of all, we found the service even before the trip began to be outstanding. The tour itself was exceptionally well organized and exceeded our expectations. The cities and towns we visited, and the local tours were wonderful, very well selected and extremely interesting. We were highly impressed with the values and ethics of the company, beginning with the fact that all of the guides are hired locally, and had exceptional knowledge about the historical and cultural subject matters. We were delighted to take part in supporting the local people, families and businesses that your company arranged. We were particularly happy to see Intrepid supporting women’s cooperatives as women’s rights and wellbeing are important to us. Furthermore, all the guides and families we visited and dined with were kind, generous and welcoming. They truly seemed to enjoy interacting with us and our group and were open to answering all our questions. We find Intrepid to be a socially and ecologically responsible company, which aligns with our values. The hotels and Riads we stayed at were very agreeable, except for Riad Milouda in Marrakech. While the place was beautiful and the staff was amazing and helpful, they were totally understaffed and we were always left waiting too long for breakfast, delaying the start times of our trips. What really made this trip phenomenal however, was our guide Jamal Kassi. We cannot even begin to put into words what an incredible guide and exceptional, humble, human being Jamal is. He far surpassed any expectations that we may have had for a guide. He is very knowledgeable, engaging and personable. Jamal went above and beyond to take care of everyone’s individual needs. Any question or concerns we, or any other group members expressed, were immediately and effectively addressed. We truly felt taken care of, and he genuinely always had our best interests at heart. As an example of how he went so far above and beyond, our tour ended the morning of June 22nd, but Jamal made a point of remaining on to organize everyone’s onward travel. He accompanied several group members to the train station and airport after he was off duty, then checked via WhatsApp to ensure that they boarded and were ok. He even booked his onward train ticket to coincide with ours the following day so he could help us with our baggage and ensure our safe onward trip. I hope Intrepid realizes what an amazingly invaluable and dedicated employee they have in Jamal. And this is only our story! Now some feedback on things we feel could be improved for this tour. With regard to the information provided from Intrepid, the website and email sent to us indicated that we should budget about $500 CAD for personal spending. We are not big spenders but we ended up spending a lot more than that.We would have preferred to have some of the meals on the cheaper end, which we were able to find in local restaurants. Two suggestions that other group members agreed with us on are: We would have preferred two days in Chefchaouen, and only one in Fes. Chaouen is the most beautiful town we visited, and we felt it was rushed and we didn’t get to explore as much as we would have liked to. Fes was ok, but not worth a 2 day stay. The desert was so incredibly hot, the tents should have fans in them. Overall we could not be happier with our trip!

Fantastic experience: We have just had out first trip with Intrepid Travel - and it certainly won't be our last! We had the most amazing small group experience visiting The Rockies. Every aspect of the holiday was well thought out, and the trip exceeded our expectatons. The guide was knowledgable and keen to ensure that everyone had the best experience of the area. Customer Care were also speedy and helpful when we had a small issue to sort out. I can recommend Intrepid,without hesitation.

Fantastic experience: I did the 18 day Morocco trip and it was AMAZING in so many ways ! I had a fabulous time! It was a combination of the north and then the south and I can’t recommend it enough. Ahmed was our leader in the north and Fou-add during the south. I’m pretty sure we got the BEST tour guides in all of Morocco. We were very lucky. They both were so knowledgeable , kind , fun, helpful, caring, and just great on so many levels. They were both very patient with us and with all of our needs ! We had so many memorable days. When I try to think of a favorite moment, so many moments come to mind ! However if I have to narrow it down to 2, I would say that watching the Eid al-Adha holiday (how it’s traditionally celebrated in morocco ) as well as the camel ride in the Sahara were my favorite moments of the trip. I will never forget Morocco with intrepid ! Big thank you to Ahmed and to Fou-add !!!

Fantastic experience: We did the Inca Trail Express from Lima tour and loved it! The trip was very well organized from booking to end of trip. Customer service representatives were excellent, fast with responses, helpful, and well informed. Our Tour Leaders in each city (Lima and Cusco) were the absolute best. Specifically, Ali was a great communicator, kind, helpful, and well organized. Jose Luis Castro was one of the best guides I've ever had with any travel experience. He was not only remarkably knowledgeable in all things related to our tour, local foods, local wildlife/environment, but he was a great communicator, well-organized, and on top of organizing every event. He offered great options, choices for local recommendations. You could tell he took pride in his work and felt responsible for our group, taking comprehensive care of all members of our group. He made the tour so much fun, enjoyable, and reduced any concerns and we are so grateful to have had him for our guide. He went above and beyond to oversee care for a small injury of mine while on the trail, and took care of many others through altitude challenges, and overheating. He was not only attentive, caring, knowledgeable, well invested in the health, well-being, and enjoyment of our group, but also came to become a friend. Any opportunity to book with Intrepid we would request Jose. Ronald was also notably incredible in knowledge, skill, kindness, and well organized in his planning and care of our group. The porters, Chef, and rest of our team was incredible! The food was delicious and we as a group truly respect and honor the hard work all members of our team put into planning, coordinating, executing, and getting us through our trek safely and happily.

Fantastic experience: I did the 7 day South Korea tour, I can’t recommend this highly enough. The food was brilliant, we tried all sorts of local dishes and rice wine. Meeting the locals was the highlight , all 3 ladies from different backgrounds were so happy to share their life experiences and their homes with us. The tour guides were awesome at guiding us through the railway system at peak hour, country and history of each region.

Fantastic experience: Highlights of Central Europe was a terrific experience. The leader, Lillia, would provide a walking tour in each location for part of a day on arrival. She provided maps and detailed direction for our freetime travel requests, and taught us some local cultural courtesies and some basic greetings to help us have a better solo experience. Her enthusiasm and encouragement flowed through all of our experiences. The group varied in ages and occupations and being a small group we all became very comfortable with each other. We had no pressure to follow each other everywhere everyday and shared our experiences freely in an online community chat group which created a lot of fun. For anyone seeking an adventure in key cities in Central Europe this is a rewarding trip in so many ways.

Fantastic experience: I had an incredible experience with Intrepid's Premium Egypt in Depth trip in March 2024. Egypt is a WOW country with fantastic antiquities such as the Great Pyramid, Abu Simbel, and many more. Our trip down the Nile was exciting and fascinating. To top off our outstanding Egypt experience, we had a magnificent tour leader, Ahmed. Ahmed was able to enhance our experience with his knowledge, leadership skills and his upbeat personality. I was also pleased that Ahmed managed the tour schedule such that I felt well rested on the tour and didn't experience burnout. I will definitely use Intrepid in the future. For any travelers interested in Egypt, I highly recommend Intrepid's Premium Egypt in Depth tour.

Fantastic experience: I love Intrepid! I've done over 50 trips with this company spanning 25 years. The trips are always well researched, well run and contain a good variety of activities. Intrepid run trips across all seven continents and give back to many of the local communities visited in menaingful ways. I love that Intrepid embrace responsible travel principles and support local communities and organisations. The leaders are often local and have wonderful insight and knowledge about the places being visited. The best bit is that the groups are small so you can do much more than you could on a dreadful 45 seater bus tour! Intrepid are always the first place I look when looking for new adventures. Extra bonus- they're an Australian company so it's great to support local!

Fantastic experience: Impressed! On our March trip, a number of others would rush out to the bus early and put their personal items on the seats to claim them. They would then fill the entire luggage rack. This left others always on the seats with the wheel mounts and having to hold their own day packs. It was so like being at school with the "in crowd"and of course self centred. Of course this is no fault of the guide or Intrepid. I emailed Intrepid with the suggestion of rotating seats. They came back to me and are serious about incorporating that and also a 15% discount. Totally unexpected and what faultless service. Love it@

Fantastic experience: Did the Kenya 8 day wildlife safari experience and it was incredible! Our guides were amazing, we felt safe the whole time, and got up close to so many animals. The campsites exceeded my expectations. Learning about the Maasai Mara tribe was so interesting as well. Great mix of outdoors/culture/wildlife and being with this group was so much fun!

Fantastic experience: I was in the Machu Picchu by train short break trip a couple weeks ago. This was a solo trip and my first time going with Intrepid. This was an absolutely amazing trip!! The thing I most appreciate about Intrepid on this trip was that for some parts I was the only person in the group excursion yet the company did not cancel on me, I was still able to enjoy the adventure on the itinerary even if it was on my own with the guide. The main attraction - Machu Picchu tour was amazing, I got there bright and early and the local tour guide was very knowledgeable, friendly, and patient with the tour and explanations of everything! I did have an issue with one of the hotels I was placed at. The condition of the room/hotel was not up to standard and I did not feel comfortable. However, upon reaching out to the customer service department, I was genuinely happy with their response. They took my concerns very seriously, answered any and all of the questions I had as to why I was placed there, and were very kind about the whole issue. Will definitely consider travelling with them going forward!

And our guide, Yanet, made this trip even better with his enthusiasm, good-heartedness, humor, and wide sphere of understanding and knowledge.

Fantastic experience: We celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary by going to India with Intrepid Travel. The trip exceeded our expectations! The Premium India in Depth tour was 14 days in north India. The variety of the activities was incredible - just the right mix of sight seeing grand historical sights and getting immersed in the culture and traditions of today. We especially liked staying in lovely locally owned hotels and dining with local families in their homes. Our tour leader Kush was a phenomenal guide. He really went above and beyond to make our trip an exceptional experience. We highly recommend this tour! As a final note, we want to compliment Intrepid for their responsiveness during the planning of our trip. Whenever we had a question, it was answered almost instantly through their Live Chat online system. We will certainly use Intrepid again!

Fantastic experience: Egypt was a trip I have wanted to do since I was 15... I have studied Egypt for years and this trip fulfilled all my dreams and expectations. Our tour guide Ahmed Ansary was the best guide I have ever had (the others on my group agreed). He had a great depth of the history and was a born storyteller with a great sense of humor. He kept us safe and made all information and sites exciting. Intrepid's tour is very carefully thought out so there is a good balance between sights and free time. I was on the 15 Premium Egypt trip and hotels were amazing. Highly recommend this tour.

Fantastic experience: Recently I took the Intrepid Travel Premium Chile, Argentina, Brazil tour with an extension to Easter Island (Rapa Nui). I can't tell you how much I enjoyed everything about this trip. Because I was traveling by myself, I paid for a single supplement room and having my own room, yet having the companionship of other group members, was so enjoyable. Our tour leader, Lorenzo, was informed, intelligent, enlightening and supportive. Any needs for anyone in the group, were taken care of by Lorenzo. We visited wineries, cities, tourist sites, enjoyed pleasant meals and shared lots of laughs. Local guides were very knowledgeable and offered insights about special facts for their cities and towns. Personally, I check the Intrepid website first to see what offerings they have for the places I want to travel. Thank you, Intrepid, for such a wonderful three weeks in South America.

Fantastic experience: Just got back from Intrepid’s Nicaragua & Beyond trip, which included 10 days in Nicaragua, El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala. This trip was a fantastic mix of physical, cultural, historical and culinary pursuits. We went sandboarding down a volcano, kayaking in a beautiful estuary and swimming in the Pacific. We visited beautifully preserved Mayan ruins, walked the cobblestoned streets of Leon, Suchitoto and Antigua (an absolutely gorgeous city, due to its preservation as a UNESCO world heritage site). We learned how to make delicious papusas in El Salvador and learned about the dying art of making masks in Nicaragua, that were used originally in religious processions, but also by revolutionaries to stay incognito. Juan, our guide, was superb — professional, knowledgeable, helpful and with a constant smile on his face. Accommodations were excellent, with one minor exception (there’s always one, but it was fine) — always clean, comfortable, with good AC and in fantastic locations. All except one had a pool. We had 16 people total, from seven different countries. A great set of travelers, several of whom I’ve already made plans to meet up with in a few months. Only complaint is the amount of time you spend on buses. There’s a long bus ride (4-8 hours) every 2-3 days. If you want to hit four countries in 10 days, I guess that’s par for the course, but know what you are getting into. They do break up the rides with food stops, bathroom stops or actual sites/activities, such that you’re almost never on the bus more than 90 minutes without a stop. But it is a lot of travel. Also, I’d strongly recommend booking extra nights at both the start and end of this trip, as you don’t get much time in the starting and ending locations, both of which are worth a few days. It’ll also help to be fresh from your arrival or for your departure, given the amount of travel time on the trip itself, as referenced above.

Fantastic experience: After six wonderful trips with Intrepid, the seventh trip did not go as we had hoped in many ways. Our feedback and complaint to Intrepid was answered quickly, valuably, and to our satisfaction.

Positive experience: I send herewith my thanks to Intrepid for an efficient and courteous response to my request for a refund of my loss of US dollars caused by an error in communication between me and Intrepid staff in Quito, Ecuador.

Fantastic experience: I've taken a number of tours with them, & have always had an amazing time. They take the stress out of travel & bring you to places you'd likely never find on your own. Had an issue with a recent trip, & they got right on it & made things right. Book that trip!

Positive experience: We recently completed a 10-day Guatemala to Belize trip. The itinerary was good, and the guide was excellent. Unfortunately, pre and post trip arrangements were poorly managed. The post-trip extra night we had booked, and paid for, was cancelled 12 days after we were billed - we were notified by email with no follow-up. After calling to see what Intrepid could do, we were told we could make our own arrangements, since space was not available at the departing hotel. I pressed to see why they had not made arrangements at another hotel - they agreed to but wanted to charge an extra $45 for a cheaper hotel. We booked our own. The pre-trip extra night we had booked, and paid for, was not 'confirmed' until 9 days before our trip, so we had to have a contingency in place in case this reservation was cancelled. Our post-trip shuttle was not communicated to our guide, and we had to provide proof that it was paid for. A reservation, by Intrepid, was made but we were picked up by a taxi with another fare and driven maniacally to the airport. Having submitted two "Travel Case" reports (December 21 and 23), and post-trip feedback on January 19th outlining the issues we experienced, we have not heard a word from Customer Service. I can only assume Customer Service is not a priority, after not hearing anthing from Intrepid more than a month after submitting our concerns. I would rate our trip as follows: Itinerary: 4/5 Accommodation: 5/5 Guide: 5/5 Pre and post-trip travel arrangemetns by Intrepid: 2/5 Intrepid Customer Service: 0/5 We plan to do more travelling, but Intrepid, on this trip, did not seem to be up to the task of taking care of the travel extras or their clients.

Fantastic experience: My trip, Morocco Uncovered, was amazing! Our tour guide Mohamed was great, he kept us on time but never feeling rushed, and even the drives were fun as he would fill us in Moroccan history and culture. I was personally going through a difficult time in my life and this trip served as a great "reboot". The small group allowed us to get to know each other and have individual treatment throughout. I can't say enough good things about this company and the people who work for them.

Fantastic experience: The Borneo itinerary was spot on, the service and skill (and patience) of the staff made that plan work and the resulting experiences were unique and memorable.

Fantastic experience: We went to Iceland with Intrepid Nov 2023. Larus was our tour guide, keeping us entertained with his tales of the hidden folk and sharing his beautiful country with us. There were many highlights, ice caves, glacier walking, seeing ice bergs, staying in farm accommodation and seeing the northern lights, amongst others.

Fantastic experience: Attentive, friendly and responsive

Negative experience: My customer care person ,Jackie ,was helpful but it took along time to get a refund of the sustainability fee I had paid for my trip to Bhutan. I received an apology for all the communication errors involved in my booking but I wouldn't have got my refund if I haven't emailed and used Chat several times. Probably wont use Intrepid again because of this.

Positive experience: While I had some issues with my trip especially with the leader and the lack of seat belts, the way that Jacqui in customer care managed tge concerns and feedback demonstrated that intrepid take concerns seriously and will manage these. I have donec6 intrepid trips to date and will continue to use this company. I like the sustainability and ethical approach they have. Also no pressure on taking other activities

Positive experience: Going to Vietnam, Thailand, and Cambodia as a solo traveler. Very accommodating. Great price $6000 for 18 days awesome 3 countries. Looking forward

Positive experience: After numerous trips over many years, I recently had cause to contact Intrepid's Customer Care Team. Although the issue I experienced was unable to be rectified, I do appreciate the efficiency of Jacky, my Customer Care Team contact. I was also pleased to know that the concerns I raised were being taken seriously. This experience has not detracted from any plans I have regarding future travel with Intrepid.

Fantastic experience: Our extensive travel has always been primarily independent. However, had we done this trip with just a driver and guide, we would not have fully benefited from so many memorable experiences. Our 18 day Premium Morocco trip met or exceeded all expectations. The tour leader, Mohamed El Bahri was outstanding ... knowledgeable, passionate, professional, personable ... and all local guides were excellent. We learned so much about Morocco's history, architecture, culture and cuisine... each day brought new discoveries. Intrepid is obviously a company that truly cares about, strives for, and achieves superior client satisfaction.

Fantastic experience: We had an amazing trip throughout the Northern Territory - beautiful scenery and a great group of travellers. There were a few hiccups along the way and post-trip Michelle from Customer Care has handled them brilliantly. She kept in touch and provided very honest, detailed an apologetic responses. Thank you Michelle and Intrepid for being so wonderful :)

Fantastic experience: My husband and I have thoroughly enjoyed the two Intrepid tours (cycling tour from Vienna to Budapest and 2-week tour of Scandinavia) we’ve been on this summer and definitely plan on signing up to more. We particularly loved the cycling tour. Tony and Fred (our cycling tour leaders) and Aino on the Scandinavia tour were fantastic. We loved the fact that all the logistics were taken care of, but we had the freedom to choose our activities. We also loved taking mostly public transport on the Scandinavia tour. Intrepid were also very good at resolving a fee issue that cropped up at the end of the Scandinavia tour and dealt with it efficiently and quickly.

Fantastic experience: We had a fabulous time on the Intrepid Premium Egypt tour February 18 to March 4, 2023. Everything went smoothly from our arrival to our departure. All of the internal travel was well organized. Intrepid Travel had a wonderful itinerary. Our guide Noha El Masry was exceptional. Her passion, enthusiasm and knowledge about Egypt (past and present) was amazing. We have been on numerous tours and Noha is the best tour guide we have ever had!! Thank you Noah and Intrepid Travel for providing such an amazing visit to Egypt!

Negative experience: They took my money, only for them to cancel my trip the next day and are saying a refund will take over a month to process. Clearly FRAUD. Do not book with them.

Fantastic experience: I had two wonderful trip in India and Georgia with Intrepid. Organization was good and people travelling with intrepid are usually lovely travellers. Guides for these two trips were wonderful and knowledgeable about destinations. I would recommend Intrepid for solo travellers.

Fantastic experience: Intrepid is a solid travel tour provider with excellent customer service. I have traveled with them on several occasions and always had a very positive experience. In particular, I recently had an issue with some confusion about an extra charge at one of the hotels and Hannah on the Customer Care Team at Intrepid sorted it out for me and Intrepid ended up covering the disputed charge. It is this extra level of customer service that makes Intrepid a top notch tour provider along with great tour leaders and fun itineraries.

Fantastic experience: The Intrepid Balkan Tour August 2023 was incredible - 9 SOLO travelers from 6 different countries. Our team leader was part: History professor; tour guide Extraordinaire; Balkan food teacher; Cultural Guide; Psychologist and sooo much more ! I am currently looking at other Intrepid Tours as the value /cost given the experience was more than worth it !!

Positive experience: I was given the following details to write a review of my experience at Intrepid: Leader's name: Said Baadoud Trip Name: Morocco Uncovered Departure Date :17/03/23 Unfortunately I could not get to the leader section as I was thrown back to the start of the questionnaire when I clicked on continue. My high priority is to sing the praises of my tour leader Said Baadoud. I hope it will be taken into account even with this different source. I have severe vertigo issues that could have not only impeded my enjoyment of the tour but those of the other members as well. Said went out of his way to support me while keeping the needs of all in account. Thanks to his adaptation the rest of the group understood and helped me throughout the trip. Said always had information to share about Morocco's past and her future as we drove from city to location both rural and urban. I know a lot about this part of the world but Said always gave a new angle or detail. Said has a beautiful voice that we heard clearly in every situation. I never wanted to follow a flag or umbrella as part of a group as that is quite a stereotype but in his case that was not required. Said was always within site without keeping the group from exploring on our own. Said was great about asking the group what they would prefer versus sticking to a rigid schedule. This helped us bond with each other, with him and with our excellent driver Mustafa. My mother has car sickness but with Mustafas' driving she was even able to read in the van from time to time. Negative experience: I would caution anyone booking any "extras" with intrepid including excursions and items to loan, read the fine print. I am going to Turkey and Africa, booked the hot air balloon tours on both tours. I am 6 weeks away from the Turkey Balloon flight and am unable to cancel without penalty. The suppliers website states I have 48 hrs to cancel. There are many safe tour operators in Turkey for less $$ with 24/48 hour cancellation policies when you book personally. I have also been informed by others that have travelled with Intrepid to Turkey it is easy to book when you are there. The Serengeti balloon flight supplier website states 14 days prior to flight to cancel. This concurs with the Intrepid's cancellation policy. I was informed the Serengeti is an exception?? I was informed by intrepid I had 2 weeks prior to the flight to cancel. So, I caution you to ask about each excursion booking cancellation policy as the majority of excursions follow the same cancellation policy as the trip purchased. This is not explained by intrepid staff when the excursions are booked nor is it on the invoice. When looking for information on the excursions, the Intrepid staff referred me to the suppliers website and/or took a number of days to receive a response, which at times did not fulfill what I had requested. I have spoken with a supervisor in Toronto, was referred to section 7?? of the cancellation policy. Read it carefully and assume the cancellation policy applies to everything you have booked and paid with intrepid, especially any extras and excursions. I asked if I could change my deluxe Turkey Balloon ride to the regular priced flight, I was informed there would be a cost to cancel and rebook. Keep in mind, today is Aug 20/23 and the balloon flight is Sept 30/23, supplier has a 48hr cancellation policy listed on their website if you had booked directly through them! I have been dealing with this issue via email and online chat. Another thing to consider, which was not brought up by intrepid when I booked, there is a weight restriction on some balloon flights... so if you are over the weight limit you may not be able to fly anyway. I have been to Morocco with Intrepid last year, I did not book any excursions through intrepid (thank goodness) The balloon flights are expensive and can be booked online yourself. The majority of online excursion bookings have a 24/48 hr cancellation. If you google any type of excursion, many will come up, read reviews, see cancellation policies. I had no issues booking excursions with the Morocco tour leader on the ground the day before when I was in Morocco. I wish I had done the same here, now if I cannot go Intrepid keeps my money, whereas if I had booked it myself, the suppliers cancellation policy would apply and not Intrepids 57+ days cancellation/change policy. After dealing with this, I feel,that as there are a number of companies in Goreme, Turkey for balloon rides is why the supplier and Intrepid have this cancellation policy... there are many others that offer similiar for less. Unfortunately I found this out AFTER I paid for the excursions in full. They wanted the balloon flight money right away, even before the trip was paid for so they could confirm it. I now realize I could have done this myself. If you print out the daily itinerary, you can determine which date you will be where. This way you can search yourself what tours are available in those areas and book them yourself for your free time or perhaps you do not wish to participate in the intrepid tour that day, another appeals to you more. I will be doing this with any future tour I take. Lesson learned, hoping this helps anyone else to cover all your bases, ask the questions before making payment to any tour company. At the end of the day.... enjoy and have fun!

Fantastic experience: Absolutely loved Cambodia, despite the heat & humidity! Travelled with an interesting, adventurous & easy-going group of women. We ate well, were blessed by a monk, went to Phare Circus (acrobats, not animals) in Siem Riep. This provided a nice balance to S-21 & the Killing Fields. Our Tour Leader Dino was exceptional: well-organized & kind, knowledgeable and a great communicator. We loved his dad jokes & sense of fashion. Who else wears Crocs with an official government uniform?

Fantastic experience: I went on the Okavango and Beyond trip a couple of weeks ago and it was truly amazing. The game drives and bush walks get you very close to an array of animals including elephants, giraffes, zebras, hippos and rhinos. Living for two days on the delta was the highlight of the trip; it's rare that you have a chance to live so simply and close to nature. The guides were meticulous in planning and executing trip details and meals were excellent. I will be using Intrepid for my next adventurous trip in a couple of years.

Fantastic experience: This was my first tour ever with Intrepid & I hadn't researched any tours prior to booking this. One of the reasons I chose Intrepid was because of the reviews. So I want to give something back. It was SO GOOD. Our guide was the best. Professional & went above & beyond for us. & you could tell she thoroughly enjoying doing it. Fantastic experience: I’ve just completed my 10th trip with Intrepid and I’m already starting to think about what trip I might take next. Over the 15 years that I have been traveling with Intrepid I have never had a negative trip. Each and every time I have had wonderful, friendly, and knowledgeable guides who go out of their way to help people connect with one another, and have an interesting and friendly time together on the trip. The itineraries are always interesting, and the time that one can roam around on one’s own are equally fun and supported by suggestions and help from the guides. To me, Intrepid tours offer the exact right mixture of adventure and safety. I really have no interest in ever traveling with another company.

Fantastic experience: Took the 9-day Intrepid trip from Dubrovnik to Belgrade and absolutely loved it-- we got to see beautiful scenery, meet congenial locals, learn about the diverse cultures and complicated history, and eat delicious regional food. Our tour leader Pavle was superb in every way: warm, friendly, knowledgeable, approachable, funny, smart, organized, and caring. He seemed to have unlimited energy himself, but tailored the activity options to fit the tour participants' energy levels. A cooking class and dinner at a private home in Sarajevo was truly memorable, not just for the excellent food and hospitality, but also for the hosts' captivating/harrowing/inspiring stories of their lives in Bosnia during the homeland wars of the 1990s. Not just a tour, but rather a life-changing experience.

Fantastic experience: I just completed my third trip with Intrepid Travel and as I have come to expect, it was an marvelous experience. Most recently I completed the Georgia Adventure tour where we had a very capable, informative and personable tour guide. The hiking in the mountains was the highlight of this trip. In the mountains we stayed in lovely places, ate well and had an excellent local guide who was extremely knowledgeable and safety minded. I would highly recommend this tour company, and this tour, to anyone.

Fantastic experience: We went to Cuba as part of the "Hola Cuba" program for US Citizens. What an incredible experience. The itinerary was well-organized, and included many unique experiences that emphasized local arts, culture, and cuisine. Our guide, Wilmar, was one of the best tour guides I've ever gotten to know -- he was genuinely caring, engaging, extremely knowledgeable, and a great communicator.

Fantastic experience: This was my second trip with Intrepid, and one that will always hold a special place in my heart. Last year I was diagnosed with breast cancer, and upon my "cancerversary" where I learned that I was in complete remission, I decided to celebrate by treating myself to this trip of Eastern Europe. I was concerned for my stamina, that I wouldn't be able to keep up with the others. Vojin not only looked out for me in simple ways (like carrying my suitcase up flights of stairs or helping me on and off trains) but also by not treating me any differently than he did the other guests. I can't thank him enough for making me feel like a normal human again. I was able to climb to the top of anything Vojin could suggest to me: church spires, clock towers, and castles on tops of mountains. He helped me feel invincible again, the way I felt before my diagnosis. That feeling is priceless. He also got to know me well enough to suggest I might enjoy visiting a cat cafe in Budapest, something that wasn't on the tour menu but turned out to be one of my fave experiences. Intrepid makes it so easy for solo travelers to retain their independent spirit of exploration while providing them with the mundane safety net of having all the transportation, accommodations, and basic city tours already figured out. It's a great balance, and super great use of one's time and financial resources. I'm a big fan of the win-win, and I can't wait to get out exploring with Intrepid again in the near future. Fantastic experience: First of all we have the highest level of recommendation for taking an Intrepid Tour. We just returned from the Best of Spain tour. One of the best parts of that tour is the amount of free time we had to do independent exploration and choosing our meals. We also took a side trip on our own to Tangier, which was wonderful ~ we highly recommend going. Besides the itinerary and included activities ~ we have the the utmost respect and recommendations for Intrepid’s Customer Care team. The team and in particular Jacky made sure we were fully satisfied with the tour.

Fantastic experience: My first group travel and my expectations were exceeded! Did the Berlin to Italy trip and our tour guide (Vanessa B) was exceptional! Her care of the travelers in her group allowed everyone to know she had our best interest at heart and ensured we were safe, well fed and didn’t miss any of the beauty this tour gave! She shared the best and encouraged us to consider doing activities we hadn’t really thought….which ended up being some of my moms or able moments! While the trip was fabulous, Vanessa I know what the one behind that outcome! Wont hesitate to go again, even If my guide is a different one. Another comment, intrepid was always available for all my many questions as I made this reservation and help me feel comfortable with going afar, as a single person!

Positive experience: We recently completed Intrepid Premium India Trip, and had mostly a wonderful experience. We knew the pace would be high and that's something you buy into in order to experience so many places and sights. We had a fabulous tour guide, knowledgeable and friendly, who told us many stories. A great bunch of people who all got on well, so lots of fun. Not everything was Premium though and the hotels in 3 destinations were sadly below standard. On return I've dealt with the Intrepid Customer Care team, who listened to my feedback, and I feel have genuinely taken remedial action to address these concerns for future travellers. Thank you Intrepid for your follow up with me, i feel that your service recovery was timely and constructive.

Fantastic experience: We recently completed Intrepid Vietnam and Cambodia Premium In-depth tour. The tour is split between the two countries and you will have a different tour leader and may have different members of your tour group. We have never been on a group tour before let alone in Asia. I can say that Intrepid hit a home run all around! We started in Phnom Pen for a couple days and then Siem Reap for three days taking in Angkor Wat. Our tour leader Pheat was great. He was very experienced and knowledgeable and could answer all of our questions and solve any problems. Accommodations were excellent and as described in their literature. The Vietnam Premium In-depth started with a flight from Cambodia to Saigon. Airport pickup and hotel transport was seamless. We met our tour guide Doan who was amazing. Extremely knowledgeable and very thorough. She led us all through the country including three domestic flights. It was like having our own personal concierge as well as tour guide! The tour was as described exactly. Accommodations were good as described in there information. We can’t say enough good things about Doan and Intrepid. Wish we had more time!

Fantastic experience: I have taken multiple trips with Intrepid. Always an amazing time. Tour guides are great and really make it a relaxing ride for you. Images are from my most recent trip.

Negative experience: I placed one pre-night hotel in March 2022 for the Premium Turkey in Depth (May). Not until five weeks later, Intrepid told me that the room I booked was unavailable. Intrepid should advise me earlier, shouldn't it? And it took eight weeks to get a refund. Fortunately, I got a room from Expedia instantly! Expedia has rooms, but Intrepid has no room for their travellers!

Fantastic experience: I traveled with Intrepid to Morocco for 3 weeks in 2018. The style of travel is perfect for me, with many authentic local and cultural experiences, that I would not be able to do if traveling on my own (such as village homestays, or being the only tourists at the small local bathhouse). The group atmosphere is great to meet like minded travel companions and is welcoming to solo travelers and people traveling together. I have many more trips with them in mind for when we can travel again.

Negative experience: Completed Vietnam and Cambodia trip and plan to do four more in the new year (Sri Lanka, Japan, Central Asia and Central Europe)! I guess I spoke in haste. They are now penalizing me by withholding 15% of $1900 of three pre-paid trips that were cancelled due to COVID-19. I feel this is financially heavy-handed and have suggested that they withhold 5% or $500 of the $12,500 I paid in November 2019. We have been back and forthing since March 2020 - wish me luck.

Negative experience: After three trips with this company that weren’t the best this last one takes the cake, the leader was heavily drinking, super unprofessional she wasn’t including me in any of the additional activities then I told her I was upset and that I didn’t feel she was professional she freaked out on me and didn’t invite me to the nights activities again. Then she had her manager call me screaming and yelling at me threatening me and insulting me, When I got upset they tried to have me put in the hospital against my own will and they were going to kick me off the trip and leave me behind in a foreign country in a hospital no one speak English. Absolute worse experience ever.

Negative experience: It is very hard to hear a Canadian Company treating people so harshly. Endangering travellers life and taking no accountability. The responses the management have given are dismissive they messed up and to claim. Not our responsibility and no refunds yet you endangered a life. Not cool.

Negative experience: My son went on a tour with them over Christmas they gave him wrong info and sent him to the wrong place they did nothing for him they refused to right any wrongs and don’t even call as they promise and they left him stranded sitting on the street no place to go dead phone and his credit card got flagged and they were happy to see him homeless in a foreign country, they told him to go to a hotel then refused him there even. Super unprofessional

Negative experience: Travel nightmares!! Avoid this place! You can’t treat people like this. You expect a travel operator to keep you safe on a trip not be the cause of your danger.

Fantastic experience: Way to travel on tours

Negative experience: We booked with Intrepid to Patagonia W-Trekking. We then received a travel tips saying 4-wheel luggage is good for the trip. This is a very bad advice as we need to board the catamaran and we must carry our own luggage. It is down right dangerous to walk the narrow plank with 15 kg luggage. Even the ship operator was cursing the luggage. Neither was it mentioned that we must carry our own luggage everywhere we go, including the half-mile walk from Puerto Natales bus station to the lodge, and 500 meter walk from the dock to bus drop-off on gavel/mud road. Not fun at all. Backpacks should had been recommended. The information also said ground mattress is provided, but it failed to mention we had to carry them from camp to camp, on top of our own stuff. 9 out of 12 people in our group got food poisoning on the third day and there is no medical assistance at the camp ground, neither there was any with Intrepid. The lunch provided by Intrepid is of poor quality: everyday is ham and cheese with avocado, no variation. And the sandwiches were carried in local guide backpack for 4 hours in the sun and body temperature. Some of us opted out the lunch altogether. Only salvation was that our group lead Carla who made her best effort to make the trip a little more enjoyable. The hostel used by Intrepid are best described as adequate. In one of the hostels, some member got bedbug bites. Not good. Overall: Intrepid booked hostel, bus ticket, internal flights, reserved the tents at Torres Del Paine camp ground and 2 trips on private van. Everything else is DIY. The service level is below expectation. I do not recommended Intrepid for Patagonia Trekking.

Negative experience: I booked 2 trips over christmas holidays, one to Machu Pichu and Galapolas. I bought the hype that these places are high demand so better make sure that I get a booking. What a mistake! You get mediocre services and places to stay. While the former was good, the latter felt like a rip off as cuts were constantly made increase the profits from providers. Eg a lack of hot water, instant cheap coffee, skimping here and there, too much free time so you have to buy the extras. Even though intrepid states it consciously books and hires locally, this is to preserve their profit margins rather than an ethical concern. If i would have booked locally, which i usually do, i would have paid a third of the price. What a mistake to book from them. The group was interesting and we made the most of it, but most constantly complained and had the feeling we were being ripped off, leavinga bad taste.
