Fantastic experience: In my opinion, the best travel company

Fantastic experience: Butterfield and Robinson has changed our lives. The combination of hiking, or biking, or cruise/biking at a slowed-down pace, with the help of their excellent guides, in foreign locations, makes for a relaxed, pleasurable travel experience. We have now traveled ten times with them, and we plan to do more. Their electric bikes (optional) extend our opportunity to travel with them into happy old age. Terry Patrick

Fantastic experience: If you've not taken a trip with Butterfield & Robinson as your guides, you must! My husband and I love to travel and are pretty resourceful at finding great hotels and restaurants on our own. However, we just completed our third trip with B&R and are always so impressed and awed at the quality of accommodations, education, and experiences we would not of had on our own. We can't wait and are already planning for the next trip!

Fantastic experience: Had a fabulous time on the five day trip to western Ireland's Connemara region. Weather was variable but the guides, Scott & Remi, were fabulous and the accommodations simply lovely. It was my first B&R trip, but it definitely won't be my last.

Fantastic experience: Wow! My fiancée and I just got back from a Tuscany Self-Guided trip and we can’t stop talking about how amazing it was. What a special way to explore and experience Tuscany. The bike routes were perfectly planned out and easy to follow with the help of the tablet. The E-Bike I had was top of the line. The hotels (especially La Bandita) we’re exceptional. And Carlos was simply the best! We have both travelled together a lot and had some amazing experiences, but this was easily our best trip together ever! Can’t wait for our next Self-Guided adventure!

Fantastic experience: Biking and Boating in and around Croation Islands is a trip of a lifetime. When you combine two of my favorite activities and add expert guides, wonderful food and wines the combination produces a brilliant vacation. The biking was challenging but not so much that you are depleted for the day. Lunches were so much fun on "the road" and swimming and water sports activities were also fun. Sunsets on the bow while drinking PROSECCO? Yes, Please!!!

Fantastic experience: If you want to see Bhutan, there is no better way then B&R. It was top notch, from the guides, hotels, sights, food, hikes. I took my wife for her 50th Bday, she could not have been more pleased. Thanks B&R for a once in a lifetime experince

Fantastic experience: The Burgundy biking tour was challenging, but the guides and service provided by B and B was absolutely excellent. Feel it was one of the best vacations I have ever taken. Any great vacation is always about the people, and this really shone through in the trip I took. All accommodations were superior and interesting.

Fantastic experience: We had a most wonderful experience biking the backroads, vinyards and small villages of Bordeaux, France. We had small picnic lunches, toured multiple wineries, and were fortunate to see some of the grapes being harvested. Dinners were a treat of various restraunts and historic city tours. Our guide was incredible and looked out for our every need. I would recommend Butterfield & Robinson and I would travel with them again.

Negative experience: We took a private walking/hiking tour in Switzerland for 9 days in early September, 2022. Marya, the B&R travel coordinator, took 5 weeks to reply to my original inquiry. We had heard good reports about B&R so we moved ahead with the planning. It was a hefty price tag so we expected everything to be perfect. The driver who was supposed to pick us up at the airport was 45 minutes late because B&R had not confirmed the reservation. Two of the hotels selected for us were under construction, hardly the "idyllic mountain retreats" promised. I had even specifically asked for quiet hotels when making the arrangements. On a happier note, our guide, Irene, was exceptional. She was flexible in selecting hikes and activities to match our abilities and preferences each day. Other activities like a hike with a local folklorist and tour of cheese making shop were fun. I think for the future, I will coordinate my own trip. This one made me feel like I had been ripped off.

Negative experience: High prices, insufficient support, mediocre equipment. Our second consecutive poor experience that will be our last.

Fantastic experience: Rioja Spain bicycling trip in Oct 2018 - personal service and attention from our guides Oscar, Alvaro and Craig complemented the geography of this trip to a tee. What a fantastic trip - treated like royalty (even met some!), we'd definitely recommend B&R to all who ask!!

Fantastic experience: We highly recommend the bike, boat, hike, trip on the Dalmatian coast. The Butterfield guide was exceptional (thanks Dama!), weather was perfect, coast and countryside were beautiful and every detail was attended to with friendly professionalism. A very memorable trip!

Fantastic experience: One-third of the way through a Butterfield Australia trip. Incredible. Hotel choices have been superb, and guides have been typical B&R guides: knowledgeable, smart, interesting, and mildly eccentric. Restaurant choices have been absolutely killer. Can't say enough about the B&R trip plane. Now finishing up in Tasmania, which is a treasure.

Fantastic experience: Butterfield and Robinson just planned and executed a great, great trip for us to the Amalfi coast. All the services and hotels were wonderful and the guides were great fun and and well informed. Many nice surprises along the way and an itinerary we would have had trouble putting together on our own was effortless. All guides were well trained the transportation and drivers were polite and on time. The recommended hotels were amazing. We loved every minute of our vacation.

Fantastic experience: Found this trip (Croatia bike tour) to be the absolute perfect combination of beauty, charm, education/history, physical exercise and unbelievable food and wine. I'm not sure we will ever "top" this experience. Thank you B&R team (Sakis, Dama, Philip, Duje, Heidi, Tanya, Niko, Laurent -- excuse my incorrect spelling, I think I'm close).

Fantastic experience: Luxury active vacations

Fantastic experience: We just completed our first bike trip with Butterfield & Robinson riding in the Piemonte area of Italy. It was amazing! The accommodations, food, wine, bikes, guides and routes were great. Each bike had a tablet on it with the days route so you could go at your own pace and stop and take pictures and really enjoy the beautiful scenery. It was a very challenging ride but after the first day I switched from a hybrid to an E bike which absolutely made my trip more enjoyable. B&R is very accommodating to all of your needs and provided the best trip I have ever been on. My husband and I look forward to planning our next trip!

Fantastic experience: We just returned from a fabulous Butterfield and Robinson family cycling tour from Vienna to Prague. The guides were outstanding, as were the food, hotels, and activities. Our teen daughters were nervous about traveling with the small group but quickly ditched us to ride with their new friends! The rides were just challenging enough, with lots of food and water breaks. We have traveled with B and R before and find this to be our absolute favorite way to see the world!

Fantastic experience: Our trip to Portugal with Butterfield and Robinson was truly magical. The guides could not have done more to make sure we enjoyed the trip. The accommodations were lovely, the biking spectacular and the events were well planned and truly gave a glimpse of Portuguese life. I really liked that the trip was as much about exploring the country as it was about the biking. I will definitely return for another B&R trip. Thank you!
