Expérience fantastique: My mother and I just returned from our mother-daughter trip to Russia! We went on the Twin Capitals of Russia tour for an 8 day, 7 night stay in Moscow and St. Petersburg and booked this trip through Intours Corporation. We went during February (coincidentally during the Maslenitsa celebration and Defender of the Fatherland Day) and were delighted to see Russia in such a festive time. February is actually a quieter time for tourism and we found the lines and crowds to be minimal, the weather to be cold (but not too cold especially having experienced the Toronto winters for years), and we were also able to see both cities with beautiful snow! The tour company We worked with Serguei, the manager at Intours, and we are very satisfied with the quality of service we received. Serguei is very knowledgeable and helpful and extended his own personal knowledge of the cities for some tailored recommendations that we used on our free time in the cities. Serguei effectively answered our questions and was supportive throughout the visa process. Intours offers a service to facilitate getting your tourist visas for you and this can be quite helpful. Additionally, Serguei was extremely helpful in getting us tickets for shows like the ballet. Based on our preferences, he helped us get great tickets to see the ballet in St. Petersburg! Overall, Serguei was professional, responsive, and supportive – we found our time working with him to be a positive experience! The tour package The tour itself was packed with the best attractions in Moscow and St. Petersburg and provided us with a great understanding of Russian history and culture. Our tour guides were extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and organized, and led us through many of the museums and attractions. Transportation between the airports, throughout the cities, and between the cities was also very smooth with all connections and transportation being taken care of. There was also a good balance of tour vs. free time and we were able to see a lot of the city guided but also had evenings to explore on our own or book shows. For anyone looking to explore Russia’s 2 main cities (with minimal knowledge of Russia or the Russian language) – I would definitely recommend the tour. Lastly, we also met some great travellers who were in our tour group. We were able to make friends and still keep in touch!
