Negative experience: There is nothing I would recommend more highly than avoiding this company at all costs. Due to their negligence in providing us the wrong wire information, we lost over 10 thousand USD. The manager verified with us that the sales agent did indeed provide us with the incorrect wire transfer information and the agents response to this matter was to ask for another 10 thousand to be sent, no accountability taken. With this, the agent was agressive and dismissive throughout our planning process and in their communication. They have completely put us off wanting to pursue this trip with any company, and certainly not through their agency

Fantastic experience: This was my first trip to India and I am glad I went with Civilized Adventures. I was hesitant to go on a guided tour as I don't generally like to be herded in large groups. This was not the case with this tour company. Denell Falk, the owner, is a very experienced, no nonsense guide with the right amount of humour. Denell selected extremely knowledgeable on-shore guides who have had extensive training and years of experience sharing their knowledge and love of India. Groups are kept small and ours had 14 very enthusiastic and well traveled tourists. Many had gone with Civilized Adventures on several trips and rated this one as top notch. The accommodation was wonderful and food great, too. We saw all the major tourist attractions but the part I enjoyed most was when we went off the beaten path to see the real India. We saw craftsmen at work, the Sunset Ceremony and Sunrise bathing ritual on the Ganges. The Taj Mahal at sunrise and sunset. The rickshaw rides through the crowded streets of Delhi and the tuk tuk rides in Jaipur were not to be missed. We had lunch in a private home with a descendant of one of the Maharajahs. We visited the opium ceremony at Brahman village, as well as the Guda Bishnoi village who live in mud huts, practice sustainable farming and were the original tree huggers. We also searched for the elusive tiger at Kahna Wildlife Park. I am an active senior citizen and have traveled in South East Asia on my own back in the day, but at this stage in my life I was very happy to have a guide select the posh accommodations and wonderful meals to return to after a hectic day of discovering India. I was very happy to have experienced guides accompany me and explain the culture. One cannot say enough about our on-shore guide, Shaju Mohandas, who not only guided us safely but answered all our questions and gave us a very personal view of India. I highly recommend this trip to anyone who is reasonably fit and is open to the the sights and sounds of chaotic wonderful India.

Fantastic experience: My wife and I wanted to honeymoon in Africa, but didn't know how to go about booking safaris and everything on our own. Andrew from civilized adventures made our dream honeymoon a reality by talking us through general options and recommending places that fit our comfort level and our budget. He then booked everything and it all ran smoothly. It was the best trip I've ever had and we are ready to use civilized adventures again for future trips.

Fantastic experience: We planned a month long trip to Namibia and South Africa. There were 4 different camps, 6 hotels, 10 flights on four airlines, a rented car and a few thousand kilometers of driving, plus airport and camp transfers. All arrangements were made by Karen at Civilized adventures in cooperation with Wilderness Adventures in Namibia and South Africa. The people in those countries were outstanding hosts, making us feel welcome in our comings and goings. There was a lot to see and we enjoyed it all. Most importantly for us though, was that all the arrangements made by Civilized Adventures were solid. Everything happened as planned. The camps met or exceeded expectations. The Cape Town and Garden Route hotels were perfectly selected. And when a modification was needed to a flight schedule, Karen looked after it promptly. If you're looking to work with travel professionals then we recommend Civilized Adventures.

Fantastic experience: We had an amazing 32 days in Singapore, Australia and New Zealand because of the excellent organization and attention to detail of Karen at Civilized Adventures and their counterparts, Swain Travel, in Australia and New. Our trip had the right mix of activity - hiking, kayaking, ballooning, and cultural experience that made our trip very well rounded.
