Positive experience: Bought our ticket here for Philippines. The Pilipino guy was friendly but I was surprise they still use the old style credit card payment, they use that slide machine to process manually or copy. The next week my wife’s bank account was hacked. I don’t know if that’s safe but thankfully we have Equifax that alerted us.
We are sorry to hear that your wife's account was hacked but we can guarantee it has nothing to do with our manual processing of your wife's credit card. Rainbow Travel has all of the latest and safest equipment for accepting credit card payments, however the reason why we processed your payment using the manual imprint machine was to save you paying the 4% merchant processing fee through our electronic point of sale terminal. This way the airline absorb the fee on your behalf. So processing payment this way ensures your complete card security as IATA airline encryption masks your card number through the GlobalBank Settlement Plan and the manual system is used only to verify the cardholder physically at our office location and is not able to be recognized anywhere on the internet and is therefore impossible to be hacked and is therefore not from our source
Positive experience: Everything was good from the get go- there were no surprises, and all the accommodations and travel met our expectations. The only downside was when I purchased the vacation package, the flights were booked (for 4 of us) under two separate booking numbers. That meant that the status pass, which I was intending to use, could only apply to one booking number (2 of us) instead of all of us. After calling multiple numbers at air Canada, I learned the split booking had been done by Rainbow travel and Air Canada couldn’t do anything about it. When I asked rainbow travel why it had been done this way, instead of one booking as requested, they didn’t understand my issue, and just redirected me back to air Canada. Nothing hostile, no shady play here, just rainbow not understanding the situation, or following up to ensure the issue was resolved. If you use their service for a group of you, I’d recommend ensuring that your flights are booked under the same booking number to avoid any future issues.
Dear Mr Montgomery,Many thanks for taking the time to review our services at Rainbow Travel Inc. To answer your concerns, firstly Rainbow Travel made this reservation on your behalf with Air Canada Vacations under one booking reference number *****737 from the Air Canada Vacations reservation system. For reasons unknown to us Air Canada Vacations split the booking into two separate bookings, this could have been due to the fact that there was no direct flight from Vancouver to Cancun for your dates and therefore the package had to be made up routing via Toronto to provide you your vacation, this can happen from time to time. To reply to your second comment regarding the Status Pass, unfortunately similar to direct Aeroplan and Air Miles bookings travel agents are bypassed purposely and therefore with clients booking directly travel agents do not have direct access to these specific benefits, this is the reason why we suggested you contact Air Canada directly, not to pass the responsibility back to you in anyway. Also a lot of these direct programs are password protected for your security and most of the time they will not speak to a third party like a travel agent, however just to let you know we did contact Air Canada Vacations on at least two occasions, they advised the client to contact directly. We are delighted that the arrangements went as planned and as you mentioned "Everything was good from the get go" If you have any further concerns, clarification, please don't hesitate to contact us.We look forward to be given the opportunity to book your next trip.
Negative experience: Quite rude, condescending, and not helpful. The agent repeatedly kept explaining that 5 nights at a hotel would be cheaper than 7 nights, even though I told him that I understood that. We told him we were flexible with the dates and he argued that we weren't so he didn't help us help any better dates for travel. He spent most of his time on expedia - which I could do at home so it wasn't very helpful. Over all frustrating and a waste of time.
Hello Theresa, We are so sorry that your experience wasn't as exceptional as the rest of our reviews. The selection of hotel durations varies month by month. Some months there are a larger selection of 7 nights or less durations than other months. Also as you know already by searching on Expedia prices and availability can change so quickly, it even happens whilst we are looking on our computer screens with our clients and they can experience this with us. The reason why we also check Expedia is that Travel Agents have our own Expedia website, it's called Expedia TAAP. This is the reason why our agent was trying to compare our Expedia price with yours to try and see if this rate was better than the one you might have found yourself. There are so many variations of the same trip on so many websites, this is extremely time consuming so if you were on a time constraint we would have been happy to email you or call you with other options and we would have kept on searching for you until we had some options to send you. That is the advantage of booking with a travel agent like Rainbow Travel Inc so that when things go wrong outside everyone's control we are there to help you in person in our office or on the telephone rather than if you booked on line yourself and don't know who to contact to re book or salvage the rest of your trip which is what happened during Covid and also recently over Christmas with the intensely cold period where traveler's were stranded and appreciated our help.
